Sad to hear. Says on wikipedia that he moved from Norwich for £28,000 in 1955! That sounds like an incredible amount of money for that time. Played a huge part in our history

Sad news indeed.

As a birthday treat, my old dad took me to WHL to see Spurs play the Hungarian Select 1X match (Nov 1965) in which he broke his leg in 5 places and which effectively marked the end of his career at the age of 31. My dad reckoned he heard the crack from our spot in the old enclosure.

I don't recall Maurice getting a testimonial or anything like that from the club: players back in the day got was called an 'Illuminated address' whatever that was, but from the money he'd saved as a pro-footballer he bought his wife a 'woollens shop' as a nest egg/investment.

A couple of years later it fell to non-league Enfield FC to host a benefit match for Maurice at their old Southbury Road ground, I still have the programme up in my loft somewhere. RIP
