I have to believe Poch had the same visions that we all did. Entering our 3rd consecutive CL campaign, we had our most settled squad in years, with most of our stars really maturing into world-class talent. We all believed we'd be triumphantly returning home and I'm sure Poch felt like this was the season that we could add maybe one or two more key components, we'd really have the momentum to challenge.

And I'll say this is probably a real test for Poch, and I'd have to question him if he bailed now. In some part due to his brilliance, but undeniably aided by some unbelievable luck in a lot of our young players turning into absolute superstars, he's been on an incredibly consistent upward trajectory. This is the first season where it feels like we've stagnated a bit, and it is going to be a huge task for him to figure out how to make the next step.

Our problem really hasn't been tying players down at all. They've all stuck around longer than expected if anything, bar Walker who had been here longer anyway.

Its improving the squad in a new era where 30mil just about buys a player with two legs. That's what's caught us out.

It's both. Rose and Toby both agitated for more (and pissed Poch off in the process). If we were a team able to pay wages commensurate with our rivals they wouldn't have kicked off.

And we can't afford much in terms of new ins whilst keeping certain players on our books still. Toby, Rose and la Moose were all in the shop window until a few weeks back.

We have been lucky though. Imagine a life sans Harry Kane.

No tone implied, but take it as you like.

Again, though I have to ask you to read my post. I said stopped developing youth. With winks being the last one. Are you suggesting that we have been giving youth a chance recently?

You seem to be continuing to argue this saf point and I don't know why.

Anyway I am lost as to what you disagree with apart from the youth bit which I explained above.

I didn't and don't disagree with that he's has stopped developing young I merely gave a reason as to why he has stopped doing it, twice.

I couldn't have made it any more clearer, again with the SAF point, you made an initial comparison between SAF and Poch, do you need me to point out what you said in your initial post:

People are always comparing him with SAF, where as I think Wenger would be a better comparison. SAF changed consistently through his time there, adapted. Has poch done that?

That is why I'm continuing to argue the point because your comparison is unfair given the circumstances.

News from Spain is that they reluctantly gave him a 2 year deal. Unless he does extremely well he will probably be a stop gap until the summer.

Your response is indicative of my point. People are getting hysterical about things that haven't happened yet.

There were tons of people (BSoDL) on here saying that our shit show of transfer window was ok and that we were getting hysterical for no reason. The reason why people are concerned is that because Poch has managed to keep everything together and is the most important person at the club currently. He goes and it all crashes (form dips, players leave, finish outside the top 4 etc) - it is all consequential. We have two key players (Eriksen and Dele) who supposedly agreed to sign new contracts already dithering and have yet to put pen to paper - maybe they will eventually or maybe not but what was in the bag 4 months ago is no longer. We have Poch coming out and saying he is unhappy. You can continue to give DL the benefit of the doubt. The negativity around the club is real and we saw it coming in the summer.

We haven't finished 8th for 10 years, this post seems a little hysterical.
I’m not talking about the immediate next season but if Poch leaves due to lack of ambition what does that say to players?? We Already have Toby & Eriksen not signing/reluctant to sign new contracts. A sparkling new stadium doesn’t compare to medals & trophies. You can see how tight the top 6 is at the moment, if you think we can lose our manager & top players and remain top 4 contenders then you’re more optimistic than I am.

The stadium delays really seem to have fucked everyone's heads up this year: staff, players and fans.

I can't make head or tail of what Poch really means anymore, and our on pitch play is just as confused.

Fingers crossed everything clicks back into place again soon.

After all the positive noises toward the end of last season with moving “home” and “incomings” there really seems a flatness around the club this season. We aren’t playing well, yet bizarrely have had our best start to a PL season, delayed stadium opening and now the manager openly declaring his frustrations. Not the season we thought we would be having back in May

I feel sorry for Poch - you can tell he is someone who has been let down, he can sugar coat and window dress everything but ultimately he comes across as a frustrated guy who is doing his best but feels he has squeezed out everything with the squad.

Love Poch and hope he stays.
Funnily enough circumstances may aid us:
Conte may be a muppet but he is a v good coach and will certainly get the rest of this season and one full season at Madrid.
Looks like Maureen has made a couple of smart moves (bringing Shaw back in from the cold and Martial). He is on a mega contract and rumors suggest Utd are going to back him with 100 million in Jan. That should keep him there for another season and a half.
PSG - one more year after this one for Tuchal.
Poch has every reason (in addition to loyalty) to struggle through this and give us one full season in the new stadium.

His latest statement must be in response to the bullshit DL peddled THST in their last meeting. He made out that Poch was the one who was happy with what he had. Delighted that Poch has come out and been frank with how he really is feeling.

On another note, the Leicester tradegy has made me think about how I feel about DL - I couldn’t say any of the things that those LCFC were saying about their leader (not that I wish anything similar to happen to DL or anyone else for that matter). 17 years at the helm and zero goodwill shown to the fans. Absolute fuck all. Everything is geared towards screwing the fans as much as possible.

Pochettino is the best thing to happen to Spurs in years. All efforts should be made to keep him happy.

That said, I can’t help feel a little bit frustrated that he is putting negative stuff into the media. He's very intelligent and won’t be doing it for no reason, clearly he wants something to change behind the scenes and is trying to apply pressure.

I feel a bit for Levy too, not only is he dealing with all the stadium issues, he now has a manager grumbling in the press.

It’s a strange one, in all Pochettino's time here we don’t seem to have sorted out our player recruitment to his or probably Levy's satisfaction. It’s the one aspect of the Pochettino era that has never really settled or felt under control. Maybe a bit of friction is what’s needed to find the new way forward.

The thing is mate, I think Levy can't help himself sometimes. Don't get me wrong he's a great chairman and has done very well in trying to bridge the gap with those above by running the Club so astutely.

But Pochettino is the real reason behind our upward trajectory and might just be a victim of his own success.

Now was the time to put complete faith in Pochettino and his vision.

He's earned it, over the best part of four years. If certain assurances were made and then renaged on no wonder he's pissed.

Talk about deflating the best manager we've had in years. And it's transmitted onto the pitch.
