- A massively larger fan base
- A massively bigger club with far more prestige
- A chairman who isn't afraid to back his manager in the transfer market to the tune of almost half a billion pounds

We shouldn't kid ourselves and pretend Poch is all about the project. He loves a project, but he isn't afraid to leave one. He's done it twice already, and Spurs > United represents a similar step up to Southampton > Spurs.

That bald bastard needs to firstly swallow his pride and take a financial hit to ship the dead wood out of the club in January, and secondly put his hands in his pockets and sign a couple of players the manager actually wants.

If he fails to publicly back his manager for the second window running, it should come as no surprise to anyone to see Pochettino at United or Real next summer.
Sorry but that's hilarious. We're above Utd and have been better than them the past 3 years.

Oh and the chairman backing the manager in the transfer market? You might want to ask Mourinho if he got what he wanted in the summer. Oh wait, no need to ask, he was already very public about it.

If all the speculation does get to him and he seriously thinks about leaving does anyone think he is a guy that is going to rush into something, am I the only one who realises that in that situation he is going to weigh up different options? I am certain he won't be going to Man Utd in the summer in fact I don't believe for one moment that he is going to leave at all in the summer, when he goes it will be in his own time on his own terms and to the club of his choosing, he is not going to jump just because an opportunity arises, particularly one that he knows will be there whenever he likes. He knows how good he is and that he has plenty of time on his side.
He'll be patient. The Utd/Madrid jobs are always coming back up. It's not like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him.

Also, Poch left his previous two projects when they disintegrated, rather than one that is going well as it is here. We were also a far bigger club than Southampton and Espanyol before he arrived. We're better now, of course.

Not that it doesn't mean Levy needs to give him some more backing now, but I agree, the circumstances are not comparable.

It's in (Manchester) United's interests to get Zidane on board and spend between now and August planning for next season's tilt at 4th place. Etc.
Similar to the Man City/Pep set-up. He was on a year off but took the role for the start of the next season so the City Board could begin identifying targets and plan accordingly.

I'm up in Chester today so I may pop over to Old Trafford and let them know that the above would be their best bet.:)

When you think about it, everybody knew for certain that there was no way Mourinho was going to be at Man U next season.

Therefore everybody knew that they would after a new manager next season and everybody knew the Poch would be the 1st or 2nd name on their list.

Everybody also knows it is not Poch's style to come out and say - "this is all BS, I am stating at Spurs 100%". He didn't do that with Real Madrid sniffing around for 2 years, so not sure why he would do that now, especially as being coy gives him a huge amount of leverage on Levy.

So really, nothing much has changed when you think dispassionately about it.

The only thing that has me and pretty much everyone else riled up, is the constant unending speculation about our manager and the potentially destabilising impact this may have for the rest of the season.

People keep making the comparison with Harry and England but i think that is unfair to Poch since Harry was positively whoring himself for the job, which is why i for one was glad to see the back of him

We have about half the prestige of Manu. Incase anyone hasn't noticed they are all over the mainstream media they are everywhere here and abroad. If we sack a manager it wont be noticed.

The delusional dotards over at Redcafe have a thread titled "Next spurs manager" as if its a given that Poch will be leaving us for them.

The sheer fucking arrogance of United fans boils my piss. As if they have some god given right to be anything more than they currently are.

In fairness there's one of those over on COYS!

They're in full panic on there.

No, but he didn't say he wanted to stay either.

Which, in media terms, means he is incredibly unhappy and wants to leave the club immediately.

He did on Friday and yesterday. I don't know what more he can say personally than this!

"I'm happy here in Tottenham and I have four-and-a-half years left on my contract. I understand you're interested because there are a lot of rumours but look, I'm happy here, trying to give my best to the club."

Exactly. Three years.

And if we were in La Liga right now we'd be dibbling all over Real Madrid too.

That doesn't stop them being an almost incomprehensibly bigger club. Leicester won the league a few years ago, it didn't suddenly make them a bigger club than everyone else. Stop deluding yourself.

Oh and the chairman backing the manager in the transfer market? You might want to ask Mourinho if he got what he wanted in the summer. Oh wait, no need to ask, he was already very public about it.

Mourinho is a brat, and he didn't get what he wanted in the summer because he had already spunked nearly half a billion pounds up the wall on utter dross; also I think the writing was already on the wall for him at that point.

If you think the next permanent United manager won't be given whatever war chest they request, then you don't understand Manchester United.

The thing is with Harry is that he is and never was a manager like Poch. He was always a manager that could go to a club like Utd are now and make them play well for a while. He was never a manager that works from the ground up like Poch. He did great at Spurs simply because he had the best players he has ever had. If he was still around now he'd actually do a great short term job for Utd now too.

Utd have 2 options. They either continue as they have been since Fergie and get another short term manager like Mourinho. This would give them guaranteed success in the next few years. They would then sack that manager and do the same again. This is the path I think they likely keep with. It's the way Real Madrid and Barcelona work and they succeed.

The other option is they go for a coach like a Poch and give them time to build from the ground up. Personally I can't see that happening but if it does I can't see why Poch would want to do it. I just dont think they have the patience for that. The fact is they are a massive club because of Fergie. They can't and will not accept no titles.

The 2 situations are completely different. Spurs went many years without success. They were a sleeping giant. Utd had all the success and now they want to be back there as soon as possible. Utd has already been built, they need a manager who will take a club like that and win things. A manager like Poch knocks it all down and rebuilds a club in his own philosophy.

You could say similar for Klopp who took on a club who were long underachievers too. OK they did win more trophies but still not often enough and not for a while. These type of managers suit clubs who need to rebuild. Utd do not want to rebuild, they want success now.

You know that's why we love Poch so much right? He doesn't do this kind of things. He conducts himself in the most gentlemen manner he could.
I don't think there's anything ungentlemanly in trying to sign a football player from another club.

I love Poch because he has a "no fear" approach to football. I would like to see our club and fanbase embrace that philosophy and not give a crap about stories in the media and the fact that United might want our manager. By almost any measure United are a bigger club than us but who cares? It doesn't mean they can bully us for our manager. It doesn't mean we can't buy their players if we want them.

Why not turn the story around on them? If we make a bid for Shaw it gets the media talking about why Poch would want to move a player out of United if he was going to go manage there in the Summer. United are going to be playing the media game so why shouldn't we?

Isn't so hilarious at all...

We've been better than United in the past 3 years because of what a great job Poch has done under the conditions/budget given. That's all down to Poch and not the Spurs board. Unless a large investor comes in he won't have the sort of budget he wants to take us to the next level instead we would most probably need to sell one of our prized assets to balance to books from the stadium cost. Poch has mentioned nicely in a few conferences already that he wanted players in the summer and that he doesn't have the firepower to compete with the elites for spurs to be real title contenders.

You must be joking if you think the board hasn't backed Mourinho! He wanted two new CBs after spending 80M alone on 3 defenders the last window and none of them even make the X11. The question wasn't weather UTD had the money to spend it was that they had lost confidence in him and rightly so.

Harry Redknapp :

Former Spurs manager Redknapp, who was on speaking on TalkSPORT for the first time since returning from Australia as King of the 'I'm A Celebrity' Jungle, said he would have joined United if they had approached him while at Spurs.

"He’s done a great job at Tottenham and I like his character and personality, he gets the best out of his players. Would he leave? He’s got a better squad at Tottenham," Redknapp said.

"I’m sure Daniel [Levy] is looking after him – he must be one of the highest earners. United is a massive club, if Man United came in for me while I was at Tottenham I would have gone."

Interesting quotes and perfect for every media agenda as they can be taken in many ways.

Pro Utd - Redknapp says "if Man United came in for me while I was at Tottenham I would have gone."
Pro Spurs - Redknapp says "Would he leave? He’s got a better squad at Tottenham"
