I wonder if anyone out there can help. I'm writing a story about Erik the Viking for the Hotspur mag. The Norwegian's first clean sheet for Spurs came at The Dell, Southampton, in February 1989. We played in yellow and it rained for most of the match. We won 2-0 with goals from Waddle and a Nayim free-kick. After the match, Erik threw his gloves into the travelling Spurs fans behind the goal. It was the start of a tradition.

In our interview, Erik remembers another time when he threw his gloves into the crowd behind the goal at WHL, but didn't realise that the match wasn't actually over. He ended up playing the last couple of minutes without any gloves!

ANY IDEA WHO OUR OPPONENTS WERE IN THAT MATCH?

I remember his first game well when the ball went thru his legs ?? Didnt he used to be the goalkeeper on the very early editions cover of FIFA on Sega Megadrive ??

I found a Norwegian article about the glove incident, but it does'nt say who we were up against :-(

Yeah he made a big mistake in his first game, letting the ball slip out of his hands. A Norwegian tv-show did a reconstruction of it. They even brought Nigel Clough to Norway to take the shot :-D

I remember one game when he hadn't noticed a back pass, and the ball was trickling towards the line, and all the Spurs fans, me included, shouted "Erik!" in unison. He darted back and got the ball in time. :)
Can't remember which game it was though.

you have to mention he's still a fan of spurs and watch as many games as he can. Also made spurssupporters of he's two sons. He's also a big fan of Gomes! Watched the 5-1 game in the same pub as him, legend.

The funny thing is what I remember most is not acatually about Erik. It is seeing a loada Yids with blonde wigs, horned Viking helmets and fake battle-axes (wouoldn't be allowed into the ground with them nowadays:wink:). Amused me...I is easily amused:cry:

You're right, he is a big fan of Gomes. He was praising our keeper in an email I received a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, the email came a bit too late to add his quotes to a story I wrote for the Feb issue of Hotspur - out this week. Tony Parks and Big Pat were full of praise for Gomes too. Erik mentioned his two sons and that they are "hardcore Spurs fans". He said he's going to get them memberships to the Spurs Supporters' Club in Norway.

I've tried a few other forums to get details about the gloves incident, but nobody seems to remember our opponents!

I found robbo throwing his gloves to the home fans but nothing about erik. If google don't have it, it's highly unlikely you'll find it online.

Pav. threw his gloves into the crowd on Saturday - does that mean he is Norwegian?
