MIDO has sent Spurs chairman Daniel Levy a text in a desperate bid to quit Middlesbrough.

The striker, 25, was at Spurs for two years until his £6million move to the Riverside in August 2007 and would love to return to White Hart Lane.

Boro boss Gareth Southgate has lost patience with the Egyptian, who has fitness troubles and a poor attitude, and has given Wigan permission to talk to him.

Mido said: “My exit from Middlesbrough is almost certain, I am 95 per cent sure. There are talks with Wigan and I’d be happy to play alongside Amr Zaki.”

Boro have taken Wigan striker Marlon King, 28, on loan until the end of the season and hope to net Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson, 23, for £2m.

So the Sun now get access to Daniel Levy's text messages?

I dont honestly know what his fitness is like. But if he can knuckle down and work hard then i'd take him at this stage. Its looking less likely we'll be able to get a target man in this window. So if he's cheap enough i think its worth a pop. Give him until the end of the season to prove himself. If he doesn't, sell him.

I would take him on loan for the rest of the season...No harm in it. At least we know he can play with Defoe. PLus he's better then who else we could get stuck with if we leave it til the last day or two. Rasiak??

If you forget about the fitness issues it's not totally bonkers. The trouble is, you can't forget about the fitness issues.

Looks like everyone loses patience with Mido after awhile because he simply cannot/will not stay fit. It's a great pity, because he has a real talent as a striker. He gets goals, especially scruffy goals, and he gets a lot of them, when he's fit - in both senses. Which is rarely. Because he cannot stay both uninjured and physically toned, his career has been drifting downhill since he was 21.

Likeable and talented, but the fitness issues mean that anytihng but the lowest fee would be too much of a risk.

I'd prefer Heskey for £3m tbh.

Agree, heskey for 3m would be a good deal. Though i do have fond memories of Mido, especially his debut against pompey. Wouldn't be adverse to signing him on loan till the end of the season.

Not for me, hes only going to to get a strop on if he doesnt play. Leopards never change there spots, he falls out with every single manager he plays for.

Hesky id take though for £3m

Am i the only one who thinks he was better when he was overweight, then when he lost the weight?

He's a typical Harry like signing though really. Mido needs a man manager type to work well with.

Bingo!! Exactly right, when he lost all that weight he seemed to lose his pace and power. This fella needs his magical Egyptian pies to perform. These days what's £5m? Get him back on loan and tell him he's playing for a contract and then you'll see the best of him.

Reminiscent of his move for John Hartson when at West Ham and that turned out to be a big hit.

I'd certainly take a look at him. In his first year here he did a really good job for us and is exactly the big, strong, combative striker we're looking for - plus he has a decent touch and can score goals.

Obviously there are question marks over his psychological state (which bring on the weight & fitness issues) but maybe Harry's the man to deal with that (Di Canio anyone?).

Amazing how when this guy was Ajax he was seen as one of the biggest talents in world football. It's just quite shocking to look how his carreer turned out.

Defoe + Mido + Carrick + Davids = nearly 4th

Defoe + Mido + Modric + Palacios = survival this season with a brighter future than we have now
