Could have been AWSOME, he had all the talent in the world but simply no self dicipline or real ambition, I remmeber him at Marsille with Drogba and he was regarded as one of the best prospects in Europe.

He had ability, but like Nicdic said, he always had problems with his weight and when we signed him permanently we also signed Berbatov, meaning he didn't get the game time he probably needed to keep motivated.

I remember that well. I was crowing at work on the Monday how we had a superstar on our hands. Halcyon days. I think we all moaned less in those days because winning games again was quite a new experience.

I was on holiday in Egypt last year and was chatting to some of the guys on reception at the hotel, and they pretty much all said they knew about Spurs just because of Mido and Ghaly. They seemed to be just as disappointed as most of us that Mido kept letting himself go and never fulfilled his potential, but they were still proud of what he'd achieved in Europe.

It should be more about the fact that he's a complete and total reject there. I guess he's taken that into account, but the fact that it's Chelsea makes it far worse. Great potential Salah, stupid to go to the blues and should look to get the hell out of there as quickly as humanly possible so his career can get back on track, just like so many other rejects with so much potential. Great to see Sanogo heading off to Palace for example.

They were good times and really exciting to be a spurs fan, to finish top 6 and get in to the UEFA cup was a big thing..before the expectation sank in but I guess it shows how far we have come (or think we have come) since those days
