Breaking news across all the wires.

MILAN (Reuters) - Ronaldinho has agreed initial terms with AC Milan and the Serie A club will now speak to Barcelona about a deal, Milan and the player's agent have said.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has had a difficult few months at the Nou Camp because of injury and loss of form and a move has long been mooted.

The forward is out for the rest of the campaign with a leg injury and a transfer can not officially go through until the end of the season.

"In general Ronaldinho and Milan are in agreement," his agent and brother Roberto de Assis was quoted as saying on the Gazzetta dello Sport Web site (www.gazzetta.it) on Saturday.

Gazzetta said a deal up to 2012 worth eight million euros ($12.6 million) a year was in the pipeline with a few clauses to be agreed.

Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said: "There is a general agreement with the player. Now a deal has to be reached with Barcelona. Give us time."

Spanish and Italian media reports have speculated about a transfer fee of between 20 and 30 million euros while some newspapers have talked about Ronaldinho buying up the rest of his contract at Barca.

Excellent news.

i) I didn't want him for Spurs, because I think Ronaldinho needs to be at a CL club to get his head focussed on football (rather than shagging and expanding his waistline);

ii) hopefully Milan now won't be able to afford Berba;

iii) given Ronaldinho and Kaka don't seem to play very well together for Brazil, this seems a pretty silly move for Milan to make - unless they're going to accept a world record bid for Kaka.

PS - looking at their league position, I may be wrong about Milan being a CL club next season.. :wink:

Agree with the last two points, Milan are struggling, and although they are a huge club, it's a bit suprising that he wants to go to a team that next year again will struggle to compete with Inter.

Strange move...

Never mind the CL, the way things are going they could find themselves suffering the ignominy of the Intertoto.

Yup. Maybe Ronaldinho would have been playing at a higher level if he'd joined the famous Spurs for our assault on the UEFA Cup next season... :wink:

should be quite funny watching two fatso's in ronnie and ron playing up front. It'll be just like the days when mido and andy reid played for us.

Gawd knows why Milan have signed him. With the players they have, he's just about the last thing they need. Although they'll be an exciting proposition. Porous at the back, fluid on the attack...

Hmmm, don't we all know another club like that :wink:

I'd be happy with this. Although as people have said before they need to strengthen at the back, I've always had an interest in how Milan do, as I remember than great Milan side of the late 80's and early 90's, arguably the best club side ever. Frightening attack, if it goes ahead, with Kaka and Pato already there.

But now maybe Barca can?

I thought Barca were going to get very little money for Ronaldinho. Indeed, there were rumours he was going to buy his contract out. So, if that's correct, Barca would get Ronnie's wages off their books, but not much more....

EDIT: Balague on Sky Sports is now talking of Barca asking for 25 million Euros for Ronaldinho.

Great move for Ronnie, he'll also have to start and training now.

Tis a shame how his Barca career has ended though.

It would be nice to see the old Ronaldinho back. I guess we'll just have to wait an see. He's certainly been wasting away in recent years.
