Skriniar would be the icing on the cake, but with the signings we've already made, Vinicius to debut and Bale to unleash, I'm pretty chilled for once on deadline day.

I don't know why people are doubting @riggi credentials. He's a very honourable man, in fact he's also a Crown Prince of Dubai and has promised to share his wealth with anyone on here who can pay for his flight back home to collect his fortune.

Inter's reputed replacement from Fiorentina has been replaced, Fiorentina have bought in his reputed replacement.
Make of that what you will but it is one piece of the chain done that people were saying would prevent this deal getting done.

From what I understand, he doesn't cope well being in a 3 at the back/executing a high line. On evidence yesterday, even some of the best CBs get caught out (repeatedly) by a high line. As we dont play a high line under mourinho, he should fit in perfectly
thanks for this. i knew it could be different horses for diff courses. this is interesting info

i knew he wouldn't be rubbish as they wouldn't be wanting so much dosh, but obviously you don't let your world class stars go.

I don't see how anyone can look at our complete inability to keep clean sheets (nine games in a row without one - think we've only had about three in all competitions since the City game at the start of February), and think our defence is good enough.

We played some brilliant counter-attacking football yesterday, but a savvier, better organised side should have been able to beat us after we threw a goal away in the opening minutes. We can talk about how our "mentality" got us back into the game after the early setback until the cows come home, but how many times have we dropped points over the years against these annoying teams that nick a goal off a defensive mistake and then put 10 men behind the ball to which we have no answer. We need to cut out those situations and I don't see Dier, Sanchez, an ageing Toby and a still raw Tanganga as good enough to do that on their own.

The top class CB is the missing piece of the puzzle that we desperately need. Ideally a top class Eriksen replacement too but without shifting Alli I think that would be a struggle.

Who IS getting clean sheets at the moment? Liverpool's defence is leaking goals. City's can't keep 'em out. Chelsea's is weak. United's has Maguire in it, Leicester shipped 3 VS. West Ham. l Wolves shipped 4 vs. West ham.

No-one is keeping regular clean sheets at the moment. I don't think adding Skriniar gives us clean sheets... it does cut out the mistakes which is undoubtedly gonna be helpful but it seems like no-one is keeping clean sheets.

One mistake v United yesterday, we recovered and didn't exactly seem troubled even before the red. One goal v Chelsea, again didn't look troubled otherwise. One extremely controversial penalty v Newcastle, other than that they pretty much had nothing. While we're not getting the clean sheets, our defence isn't as poor as people want to believe. Watch the 90 minutes and see the vast difference from last season to now.

We are getting better at controlling games - but the art of being a top defender isn't about keeping absolutely everything out when the opposition is all over you - even the best defenders need to rely on their team mates in those situations. It's about making sure that even in those games that you are on top, or that are fairly even, the opposition doesn't get the chance to turn the game at a crucial moment. A top class defender gets to the ball before Calvert-Lewin on the opening day, and shit as the overall second half performance was we might well have nicked the game and found ourselves top of the league. Our attacking players tore Southampton apart, but they were wasteful in attack and could easily have gone several goals up against us if we hadn't been lucky. Then there was yesterday's shocking start. Don't even get me started on last season.

All of our CBs are capable of putting in a good 90 minutes. They've also all made worrying numbers of mistakes too (haven't even talked about Tangaga against Chelsea yet). Cut those mistakes out, and we cut out the probability of dropping careless points.

I guess we need to keep an out for any Inter incomings. Hopefully Milkenovic does move to them

yeah....just because others are not keeping clean sheets

so we shouldn't bother to try either

Attack win you games...defence win you ttles

Definitely feels low possibility right now, but that Romano tweet does leave the door open for us.

Goat is probably right, if they get a replacement a deal could still be done.

Our last two league games have not been clean sheets but the one goal in each has been a penalty. Three out of the six we've conceded have been penalties so it doesn't point to a disastrous defence. That said I want Skrinier so I wish I hadn't made my point.

Could be an exciting day. Fingers crossed Inter manage to do a deal for a replacement and we can swoop.

But it's our CBs that has given the penalties away.
