Oh I don't doubt it, but it does strike me that the likes of De Rossi and Totti can do no wrong and others are always to blame. At Real Luka got a lot of stick from the fans early games and yet the Madrid rat pack could do no wrong even though any reasonably balanced fan should have seen that several major players who had regularly played together should be so badly affected by one player who just arrived. Even later in the season when he was one of their best players there were still fans who didn't warm to him and blamed him for others failings

I think de Rossi showed in many years his good attitude and passion for the club.

I can't go into details as I am not watching the italian league. But what I am hearing is that Pjanic has his great moments, but has a problem with his attitude and he seems totally inconstant. I don't think there would be too much talk about a move for him every window if everything would work fine there for him.

He has only been there two seasons, sure they haven't set Serie A alight but we are talking about a club that has had what 5 managers in that time, there top scorer the last few seasons has been getting plenty of abuse. Hardly surprising a player like Pjanic with his languid style gets criticism, but I think it's as much finding a scapegoat or two for what has basically been a club in constant turmoil within itself that's gone from a close title contender in recent years to mid table mediocrity

I'm sure Pjanic has not been that consistent over his time there, but I don't think he's alone in that and that includes a number of their old guard and to be fair given the changes they've seen they must feel like the little boy with a Jewish farther and Spanish mother who never knew if he was Carmen or Cohen

Pjanic wouldn't be my first choice as the creative force in a midfield three but he is a decent player who would provide a lot of creative quality in a decent and stable team, so I personally wouldn't be too concerned about some Roma fans opinions. There may be better options but at the end of the day I'd take him because he'll offer something we lack and do a pretty decent job

Didn't Lyon let him go as he hadn't developed as well as they had hoped?

About two years are enough to see somebodys attitude. I mean, I think somenthing like that about Adebayor. Sometimes lazy, not always want it...

I prefer a player where I can't find any of these comments, I am sure the fans over there aren't that stupid only to watch out for a scapegoat.

Like you said you have a mate that's a Roma fan, I'm sure that you'll find a few fans of every club that don't like certain players in the team, so you will always find a few detrimental comments about practically every player

Personally I would make my own mind up about a player, I know we have enough arguments about the merits of our own players, so one persons view on another teams player is neither a here nor there. Look at Gio some always say he was poor and always out on the piss, but apart from seeing him drunk at the Christmas bash when he was not playing because of injury there was never any evidence of it, by comparison Ledley was regularly getting pictured the worse for wear at clubs. I'll listen to people's comments but at the end of the day I wouldn't let them put me off a player and choose to make your own mind up rather than let them make it up for me

Don't know if it's been mentioned but there's an article in the Mirror about De Rossi. It's not specifically related to us but there are quotes from Roma that all their players are up for sale.

Lamela is left footed ... He prefers to play right side where bale plays now........Unless we sell bale, i don't think it will happen

Why not? We move Bale back to the left.... He is afterall our own CR7.

We can never have enough class players in the squad and he is class. If we have the available cash then lets get him as long as it doesnt affect our priority buys of strikers, its better then letting the money sit in the bank earning little or no interest.

Only if we can't get Bernard.
Lamela is probably the better player but a little more suited to the right although I am sure he would be excellent on the left interchanging with Bale and Villa. If we could get ether Bernard or Lamela I would be so very, VERY happy, don't really mind which as they are both fantastic players. Please let this happen.

Agree either would be awesome, just think that there isnt much in it now and Bernard will be the better out of the two in a couple of years. Also think that Bernard will be better on the left with Bale on the right and hopefully Hailiovic on the right when Bale leaves. IMO anyway.

what exactly are the quotes about Roma players being available? Before i get excited that Lamela could actually be available would like to know.. if its along the lines of "if Monaco came along and offered us a island in the Caribbean than we would discuss the possibility of selling our top players if they doubled their offer" then i will be very disappointed in life.

The only way I would see us adding Lamela are a.) We are selling Bale b.) We're sticking with the 4-2-3-1 or c.) Bale is going to be on the left in a 4-3-3.

Out of all of those, option b makes the most sense to me if Lamela were to happen. Lamela does not play on the left. He is a left-footed player, but similar to Bale, to get the most out of Lamela's talents, playing him on the right with the ability cut in on his favored foot is the best position for him.

So, unless we want the 4-2-3-1 with maybe Siggy, Bale and Lamela behind the striker, I just don't see it working given Bale's position in the 4-3-3 probably going to be in the "Hulk" role and with our new glut of midfield option, the 4-3-3 seems more likely.

While I'd love Lamela, I'm guessing we're looking for the "Varela" option at this point. Pacy, can score some (but not many) goals, generally good delivery and is a LW with a favored right foot. If I'm being completely honest, Nani is about the closest thing I could think of. Opinion is pretty split on him, but in regards to a player similar to Varela, Nani would fit the bill. He's also better when he's playing to his abilities.
