It seems he is for sale!

Roma claim they have already turned down a number of offers for midfield star Miralem Pjanic.

Reports in France in recent days have claimed that Paris Saint Germain have made the Bosnia international one of their top targets for January.

Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in recent months, but Roma are seemingly unwilling to consider any offers for the 23-year-old.

"We have had many offers for Miralem," sporting director Walter Sabatini is quoted by the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"And not necessarily from PSG. For the moment he's for sale."

I'm sure he'll be looking at Lamela's time with us and itching to make that move to the bench...

If we got him I think we could really start to build something again, as close to Modric as your likely to see.

He's suppose to be signing a new contract that will lock him down for the long term. He's stated publicly that he enjoys Roma.

As I said in the Holtby thread I think he said "at the moment he is not for sale" and he's been misqouted but saying "at the moment" is hardly a definite either way. We could certainly use a playmaker of his quality and would be happy enough offloading both Siggy and Holtby if we could get him. It would mean little net cost, a real quality playmaker that we lack and a player who could well boost Lamela as they know each others game well

Is that not meant to say he's not for sale?

I've had my doubts about him in the past, as he's always been injury prone and usually played a bit part at a poor Roma. However, this season he's been very good under Rudi Garcia and has very much suited to playmaker role given to him. He's usually employed as one of the midfield 3 alongside two of Strootman, De Rossi and Bradley.

Amazing player and I'd take him in a heartbeat but we really don't need him. Left back is what we should looking at first and foremost.

Heard this as well. The new contract will have a significantly larger buy out clause as well. When he leaves (because he definitely will, given Roma can't compete consistently in the league, let alone the CL), it'll be for big cash in the summer.

That being said, he's one of my favourite young players. Great vision, solid shots. Would love to have him here, but bringing him before offloading some CMs, or without strengthing our backline/attack would be foolish, and highly unlikely.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign Roma midfielderMiralem Pjanic this month.

The 23-year-old plays a pivotal part in the Giallorossi squad and is expected to remain with the Serie A side for some time despite rumours of a possible departure, as the capital city club have also publicly stated their plans to keep him.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham, who signed Erik Lamela from the Lupi over the summer, are the latest club to try and convince the Bosnian international to leave the Italian club this winter and could be preparing an offer for him.

Roma have brought in Leandro Paredes already on a loan-to-buy and are now finalising a deal for Nianggolan too, it does sound like perhaps they're preparing to lose or replace someone.

We just don't need him

Not so sure. We lack a fancy dan playmaker.

Eriksen is good technically but doesn't dictate games yet.

The likes of Gylfi and Chadli are squad filler at best. Pjanic offers something else: passing, creativity, the ability to influence the tempo and rhythm of a match.

But look at our midfield depth. Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele, Capoue, Eriksen, Holtby, Chadli, Townsend, Lennon, Lamela, sigurdsson and Bentaleb. Thats at the moment 11 players for four positions. And you just can't tell me you can't form a good midfield out of these players.

What we need is a long term Kaboul replacement, a competition for Rose and an Adebayor cover. That is were our money should be spent on.

I agree that we need a CB, LB and striker cover. Absolutely.

However, I also think that Pjanic offers something that our current crop of midfielders don't have. IMO the likes of Chadli and Syggy just don't do enough. Pjanic is an upgrade on both of them.

Could make sense to settle Lamela if anything.

If it's a good price we could go for it. Sigurdsson would have to go though and Carroll and Bentaleb would have to remain out on loan without question.

He does seem very similar to Eriksen though, and there are certainly more important aspects of the squad that need to be dealt with.

This ain't going to happen. Why would he leave a club fighting for the title and pretty much a certainty to QF for the CL?

If it's a question of him being forced out then I'm sure there will be bigger clubs than us in for him
