Olympique Marseille midfielder Modeste M'Bami has attracted inquiries from Premiership duo Manchester City and Tottenham.

The Cameroon international, who has been likened to Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele, has lost his regular first team place at l'OM to Lorik Cana and is considering his options.

Both Spurs and City have asked about M'Bami's availability, with the midfielder having less than two years left on his current contract.

Whilst I know its only a game, my observations of him in FM and PES are very positive. He's more potential then finished article but he's certainly in the mould of what we need.

Could this be the chap the ITK have suggested?

Having said all that, this is tribalfootball and as soon as I see Man City mentioned, I know this is simply a case of matching a team with money with a player who wants a move.

And the last sentence on Wiki about him says
He is due to sign for Manchester City by the end of week, but could go to Tottenham should the Blues decide to let him go to London or not

What's the point in getting him if Zokora and himself will miss the best part of 6 weeks for the ANC?

If we're going to sign an African midfielder, they need to be of top drawer quality for it to be worth it. I think I would still take Appiah despite the ANC.

Just glad we are being linked with a def. midfielder as we are in dire need of one if you ask me. If this guy isn't the answer I hope Huddlestone can make the jump up.

Not too concerned about ANC though I really would like to see them change when they play it. I am very suprised FIFA doesn't try to put some pressure on the organizers and get it in the summer but that doesn't suprise me that they don't really want to do what is best for footballers.

Now look.

Modeste was the first name of composer Modeste Mussorsky who penned Pictures At An Exhibition which was turned into a prog rock masterpiece by Emerson Lake and Palmer and Keith Palmer was the subject of a comedy gold thread on this site after he wrote a book about Spurs.

So we have a long and honoured tradition of being linked to people called Modeste.

:shifty:
