Fucking hell. All talk aside I can't believe he is now the "longest serving player of the current squad".

Literally seems like yesterday to me when he was an exciting teenager bursting into our first team.

Then again I am 40 next week so I suppose I shouldn't be that surprised.

40 is the new 30... happy birthday in advance!

I like Lennon. He makes a difference to how well we play. I know his crossing could be better but he scares the shit out of defenders and they need to double up creating space elsewhere.
Bale on left. Lennon on right. Couldn't double up on both without leaving serious holes for Modric to exploit.

God it was beautiful to watch

Unfortunately he doesn't scare anyone any more, and other than helping out the defense, doesn't offer much these days. The year we bought Bentley he stepped it up a notch.....if only he had continued to progress...RM may have 3 former Spurs players in their squad :)

I forgot to add, playing him anywhere other than right wing is a total bloody waste of time. He is a right winger. A fast right winger. A right winger who plays best in a fast counter attacking side where he has space to run into.
We have not been doing this since Harry left rendering him useless. Same as Soldado, Ade and pretty much everyone else looks shit playing this sideways backwards slow boring football.
If he moved to Swansea you'd see what he offers.
If I was playing left back I would rather have Lamela, Chadli or any of our squad running at me, other than Lennon.
Edit- He doesn't scare anyone anymore???
Think you meant we dont scare anyone anymore.

I definitely agree with you that Lennon should only play right wing. Maybe he just needs a run of games, but he rarely takes a man on even when playing in the RW position. Oh, and you are also right that we don't scare anyone anymore....still, there's always hope.

Lennon always was a one trick pony, recently he has lost a lot of his pace and has become a no trick pony. Anyone who thinks he is more effective than Lamela is delusional.

He's still fast, just not as quick off the blocks - playing such a high line means he is always receiving the ball to feet when i think he'd do much better off starting his runs from deeper and beating the offside trap to run on to through balls now. Either that or play him much deeper and use him as a wing back - can't deny he puts in a solid shift defending, for such a wee fella.
