Good Evening to All;

I have hesitated a long time before making this post but I now think this is important to make it.

To all those travelling to Monaco next Saturday, I feel this is important you have some knowledge about the french riviera football context.

To summarize, there are 3 big Ligue 1 Clubs in "La Cote D'Azur".
Nice, Monaco and Marseille.
Marseille is not really on the Cote D'Azur but is the major Club in the south east of France.

Marseille, Nice and Monaco fans very much dislike eachother.
Marseille, and Nice fans hate each other.
Whereas Marseille and Nice Fans hate Monaco because this Club has always been very rich (even more now with Russian owner) with a rather poor support in Monaco and a very poor attendance.

Most of the French most fanatical fans from the northern part of France (above Loire River) support their team in a more “English way” of doing things. (much vocals but no much apart from that).
I am mostly thinking of Lille, Valenciennes, Lens, Rennes, Lorient, Brest, Nantes, Caen, Le Havre, Nancy, Reims; etc.)

Most of the French most fanatical fans from the southern part of France (especially South East France) support their team in a more “Italian way” of doings things.
Marseille, Nice, Bastia, Ajaccio; Montpellier to name the Clubs where the atmosphere is the most
intimidating.

Marseille, Nice are by far the 2 biggest Clubs.
There are vocals but fumigens and bringing “tools” to the game in also seen as something “normal”.
We must be aware of that.
This is something you must be all very aware of.

Some others Clubs like Lyon, Bordeaux or St Etienne have several huge groups of Fans.
Some of them (in the same club) have a english way to support their Club (Magic Fans St Etienne) and the other group makes it the italian way (Green Angels St Etienne).

That’s why different groups backing the same Club sometimes fight against each other because they don’t have the same “policy” regarding to how support their Club.

As I have just mentioned, it is a rather “usual” thing that Ultras from these Football Clubs
( Nice comes first to mind) sometimes use dirty tricks (and material like baseball bats, knives, etc...) when they face each other or when they go to the game.

They have several groups of supporters in Nice.
Some of them being "influenced " with some political ideas.
Mostly extreme rights ideas.

Here are the names of Nice supporters Group.

Brigades Sud Nice 1985 (BSN 1985) Around 800 members with the card of the group but
around 2000 persons on matchday with that group on matchday.

This group was declared illegal in 2010 following problems with violence in the french football.

Some other groups as follow.
Brigades Sud Nice Parigi.1994. (50 members)
Secioun Nissarda 1997.(20 members)
Armada Rumptetada Nissarda 2001.(300 members)

The different groups that were declared illegal by French government in 2010 were as follow:

PSG PSG 1970 La Grinta
Supras Auteuil 91
Les Authentiks
Commando Loubard
Milice Paris

Nice
Brigades Sud Nice 1985

Lyon
Cosa Nostra

KOB (Kop Of Boulogne) Group was already declared illegal from 2008.
Here are a few films about the BSN 1985.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpEA4I5NqLY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7xhkGYdtSY

To anyone who knows a little bit about French football, the BSN 1985 is quite “famous”.
They are not babies and very much like to prove themselves against “any opposition”.

They don't follow any rules contrary to the groups from Northern Europe.

You could be involved in a fight whereas you could be not involved in any manner in this fight.

There is a huge probability some Nice fans and probably BSN members will make
the very short trip to Monaco.

1 ) Hugo Lloris is a 100% pure Nicois and he has left a great memories to most Nice fans.
Some Nice fans will probably buy tickets in our away stand.
(Nice Fans would never sit in Monaco Home Stands).

Some Lyon Fans might also come (because they also have great memories with Lloris who captain them for several years) and if they also buy tickets in “our away stand”, there might be troubles.

Indeed, Lyon also have several Ultras Groups.
The biggest of them being the Bad Gones 1987 with around 2500 members.
They are located in the North Stand in Le Stade Gerland.

The second biggest one is Lyon 1950 (formerly named Cosa Nostra- declared illegal in 2010)
They are located in the South Stand in Le Stade Gerland. (around 300 members).

Both Lyon biggest Ultras Groups are very closed of extreme rights organisations.
Lyon Ultras of the Bad Gones even have a special friendship with Real Madrid Ultras Sur.
………..

Lyon Ultras have been involved several times with homophobic, racist ans anti-Semitic acts…
I won’t comment more on here…

Here is a link for those interested.
(this is a French article but very interested to any get some knowledge in the French language).

http://rebellyon.info/Fafland-Panorama-de-l-implantation.html

If Nice Fans, Lyon Fans, and Spurs Fans are located together in the same stand, I don’t really know what we can expect……………

Nice groups and Lyon groups usually hate each other but when it comes to the Tottenham Yids, maybe they would join against us.

I am not saying this will happen, I am just saying that as Spurs Fan, we must be aware that it may happen.
Even if some Spurs fans don’t consider themselves as “Yids”, almost any Ultras group whose team is facing Spurs don’t see us as Spurs but as the Yids.

And for Lyon or Nice groups, Tottenham (Yids) is a Big Scalp to take.

(the vast majority of you travelling in Europe probably know what I mean).
2 ) Niçe fans dislike Monaco.
Because Nice has the support and Monaco has very little support but much money.

3 ) Some guys of the BSN very much like to prove themselves against the fans from Europe.
And they will probably gonna grab their chance when Spurs to visit their neighbors Monaco on next Saturday.

Even if the huge majority (all) of us fly to Nice to enjoy “La Cote d’Azur’ with its sea, (sex) ans sun, we must know that there is a small (but real) possibility that we get a “special” welcome from the Nice local fans.

Indeed, on next Saturday, it will be only week until the beginning of the Ligue 1 Season start and Nice will have a new Stadium and will also be involved in European competition for the first time in years. (Europa League).
Facing English Fans could be a really good “test” for them.
I know that for Spurs fans, this is only a friendly in mega Rich Monaco vs a great team but for with the sun and the sea in the background but for some locals fans, this might be a great chance to grab when Spurs to visit their neighbors Monaco on next saturday
Even if the huge majority (all) of us fly to Nice to enjoy “La Cote d’Azur’ with its sea, (sex) ans sun, we must know that there is a small (but real) possibility that we get a “special” welcome from the Nice local fans.

Nevertheless, I am pretty confident we would have no problems.
I think this is important not to behave like invaders (and behave badly due to excess of alcohol) when we’ll get back from Monaco to Nice after the match.

Indeed, Nice fans feel very proud of themselves and would feel offened if some English nationals would behave like if the city belongs to them.
If you behave like well behaved tourists and not like bad mannered invaders,
You’ll all enjoy the pleasures of Nice without trouble….

I wish you all a great match and a nice stay on La Cote D’Azur.

Maybe we’ll meet there and have a bier in Nice after the game
I don’t know Nice better than you as this will be my first stay there.

You’ll be able to know me (with a mate of me) as I will get the flag of our group “Swiss Spurs” and the French Flag (as we are French and we get French players in the squad).

See you soon.

Alex.

Merci beaucoup, Alex. Top info and no doubt helpful to Spurs fans going out there to join up with you. Have a good time.

This is how you start a thread. I'm looking at you here, S. Mouse. :shifty:

This fella posts very infrequently but when he does it's always a 'nice' read (pardon the pun and perhaps not the best choice of words in this context).

Anyway, I know it's a friendly but who should we watch out for from Monaco? Heard that new guy up front is quite handy.

They have a bloke in midfield called Moutinho who's meant to be pretty decent. He used to play for AVB too, can't believe we never considered a move for him.

Cheers. Mootinio you say? Never heard of him. I'll keep an eye out though so cheers for the heads up. Hopefully our scouts will be there too.

Guys,

This thread most mainly written to advise those of us travelling in the South of France that we may be ready
to " stand our ground ".
Most of us will fly there very "partymooding" and to have a great time in sunny Cote d'Azur.
Almost none of us (not even me) are thinking we might get troubles. (and I wish we won't).

But even if it only a friendly for Spurs fans and for Monaco ones, for some other people, this might be a great chance to test themselves against some English opposition.

I don't say we must fly to Nice and head to Monaco scary but for many fans in Europe ( the groups with some links with extreme right) , we are the Yids, not the Spurs.

As for any travels in Europe, we must open the eyes.

I just wanted to highlight that we must be aware that there is always a part of risk.(especcially because we're Tottenham).
Maybe this thread is completely useless but this is easier to be aware of the risk for some midweek trip in Rome or in some eastern countries in the middle of winter than for a friendly game in sunny Cote D'Azur at the beginning of August.

Did anyone watch Monaco v Leicester yesterday? They actually play like a team that have been together for a while, but can't really read too much into pre-season, especially against Leicester.

Falcao always looks a threat, wish we had a player like him

TariccoDI,

We'll land in Nice in the begining of the afternoon and we'll leave our luggage in the hostel.
Then, we'll take a bus or train directly yo Monaco and we may try to have some pics with the players before the game.

At the end of the game, we'll be back to Nice and have some food and drink.

If as many of us can have dinner together in Nice or on our way back to Nice, this could be great maybe.

It will allow us to know eachother and share our passion for Spurs.

Merci Mon Ami,

Parklane1,

This is not my flag ( this is the one of the group Swiss Spurs).

I am only a member of the group.

But I feel this is important to bring it with us each time one of our members get the chance to go to matches and to support
Spurs.
Only the french flag belongs to me :).

Wish to meet as many of you on saturday.

Please note that I know that it is only a friendly but this would be great if as many of us could sing as if it is an official game.
We (Spurs Fans) must show that we are a great support at any time (especially our away support).

Thanks
Alex
