I've just recently seen the film Moneyball with Brad Pitt, for those who haven't watched it the film it is about a former baseball player called Billy Beane. He becomes General Manager of Oakland A's and seeing that his team had little money he started using sabermetrics (using statistics and empirical evidence to determine play). Well he has a share in San Jose Earthquakes (a partner club) and is apparently a Spurs fan.
I wonder if we'll be using any of his methods for choosing players!
