Can't see them accepting that.
Why not?!

To be honest, the likely scenario is we reach a compromise over the fee and Vlad stays - Southampton in a weak bargaining position here and weakens every day MS's head 'isn't right'.

Also, the other consideration must be whether we manage to prise Dawson away or not, otherwise we may leave ourselves with little strength in depth at the back as I wouldn't have thought Dier would be utilised that heavily this year.

Pretty sure Carrick only went because that twat Comolli refused him a pay rise to put him in line with other players AND said he had a better player lined up.
Zokora.

Not according to Jol. He clearly stated that he could not hold Carrick against his will (for playing for ManU). Jol would have played Carrick over Zokora anyway...

Yep, Carrick had his head turned by the United posse in the 2006 England World Cup squad iirc.

The Dutch coach said: "I take no pride because I would have loved it if he had stayed.

"I have coped with the idea for the last six or seven weeks. It wasn't easy because we wanted to keep him, everyone knows that, but he wanted to go and not only up north, he wanted to go to Manchester United, so in the end, they paid us and I had to let him go.

"The only thing you can do is look forward and try to find a good blend in midfield again, and I think we have the players for that."

"You know the story with Carrick. Let's finish the story. There was no hide and seek. We wanted to keep him, he wanted to go. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

And repeated on the BBC too - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/5222956.stm

There's also quotes all over the internet from Carrick himself. He was away on international duty (World Cup 2006) and said he didn't know much of what was going on, but as soon as he heard it was Man United, he couldn't turn it down.

Because a Chiriches loan is worth 1m at most.

Schneiderlin favourited a Tweet that mentioned a cash plus Vlad deal. Could have been accidental. Could mean nothing. But it's fun to speculate....

That is pretty funny, We should all start tweeting him pictures of him in a mock up prison cell to stoke the flames!!!

At least we'll know what provisions to put in the contract for when he inevitably kicks off for not being allowed to talk to Madrid in three years time.
But he was allowed to talk to us that is the point! he was talking to us and then Southampton went back on their word and then just to rub salt into his wounds they've let another player leave after saying no more players will leave.
Quite frankly I think they have behaved disgracefully towards him.

To move Vlad on before Dawson would be a clusterfuck of a decision, regardless of whether it could get us MS. Kind of defeats the object of signing Musacchio.
