capoue/sandro paulinho/dembele/bentaleb

for me is a very good midfield with very good options

Too many fitness question marks in there for me IMO. A talented lot, but having two players in there who we can't be certain of being at 100% this upcoming season (Sandro, Dembele) and another who was injured for most of his only season in the Prem despite a great injury record in France (Capoue) just doesn't bode well for a four-front season.

I really like Dembele and Sandro when fit, but if I had things my way I'd send them on along at this point to bring in Schneiderlin and prioritize Holtby as a DLP over CAM.

This Simon Peach guy has been very good with Saints info all summer. Would be a fantastic double signing if we could pull it off!

I am told Schneiderlin & Rodriguez are close to linking up with former #SaintsFC boss Pochettino at #THFC. It never rains but it pours.

Schneiderlin is attracting interest from #AFC & #THFC, but favours the latter as he wants to work with Pochettino again.

Delighted to hear this about Schneiderlin if true, but I really hope we don't sign J Rod to play left winger. I just do not understand that move at all, for both technical nor for the obvious physical reasons.

Could be more down to Levy wanting to appease Pochettino. Surely that's got to be the biggest determinant in why we are going after both.

Please please please please please

So just to make sure, if these two go through, that will mean Saints have lost

Lambert, Shaw, Lallana, Lovren, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, and Chambers?

With Rodriguez maybe they're thinking by time fit will coincide with Adebayor going to African cup of nations?

That's a really good point. I do think part of the reason may be that he can slot across to play striker in the near future considering both of our senior strikers are hugging 30. But I simply do not think his style as a winger would be applicable to the way teams defend against us.

Eh? J Rod is a solid player. 14 goals in the premiership last season from left wing, and 1 from up front. Griezmann got 16 in La Liga and people were going nuts. Only 1 year difference between then but none of the language / settling problems. I can understand worries about his recovery from injury but there shouldn't be any technically

Simon Peach has been awful, I thought. Wasn't he the one who said Poch would be staying at Southampton and wouldn't join us?!?!

Oh I'm sure that's so, but I don't understand why Poch wants him specifically in lieu of healthy (and better IMO) options that are available.

If it is true about Schneiderlin, I wonder which of our midfield are off?

I would have thought it has to be Sandro, Capoue, Bentaleb, Paulinho, Dembele in that order of likelihood. I'd never have expected us to try and strengthen CM this summer. But if he can improve the team, fine.

Its a fair point but at the same time he is a very hard worker who presses very well and is an under-rated finisher.

I'm with you on that. I like idea of Rodriguez as another ST option or to back up Lamela.
