'Are you serious? I had the news I was not going to play them two hours before the game started.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has emphatically responded to claims that Fulham have been hard done by following the rescheduling of their game against Spurs.

To be fair to Scott Parker, it is probably more of a problem to be told you are playing a match at very short notice than to be told you aren't.

A forfeit would have been fair. They were his players who were unfit to play.

Parker accepts that they will play on Wednesday but it's the short notice which is the problem. Hah! Try two hours before kick-off that you're not playing. That's short notice for you

Fulham were actually put on notice on Saturday, Parker himself admitted that. It was only confirmed 48 hours before.

Parker is just doing a good bit of mind games. Smart of him really.

I'm with Jose here, what the hell did Parker expect?

The game to played when it suits them? They had the Covid outbreak, so shut up and get on with it.

What is really funny is that a lot of these younger managers were likely inspired by Jose over the years to use press engagements as a means of getting a noticeable psychological advantage. I'm not saying that doing it didn't exist before Jose but his effectiveness and how much he grew as a public figure because of it is certainly influential.

And if it was us that had the covid breakout?
The rules must be followed. The rules state If there is not 14 available players, the match is fortfeited. If there is, the game must be played. It is not Spurs’ fault the league brought this upon themselves by not following its own rules & postponing matches thereby rewarding the clubs whose fault it is. I’d be saying this if it were us too. You break the rules, you shouldnt be rewarded. Especially in a season where they’re trying to play a normal schedule with all comps and int’l breaks in 2 months less time. There is no time to fit in postponed matches. It is not fair for Spurs to be punished by playing 4 matches in a week again simply because another club cant follow rules. Where’s the integrity in that? Fulham can fuck off. Villa can fuck off. Dont break the rules. Do stupid stuff, win stupid prizes. We should be up +6 points, +6 GD right now. It’s a joke we arent.

I agree with the conclusion of what your saying, that’s what should happen. But it’s not as simple as saying all rules are followed = no Covid (ie it’s the clubs fault). Outside literally trapping players and staff in the training ground there is always the risk of outbreaks, and you can mitigate those risks but you can’t prevent them. What happened to villa and Fulham was unlucky, and could have quite easily happened to us, particularly considering we have seen our players have breached Covid rules more than on one occasion, and that’s just what’s been reported.

Now I do think that the 14 player idea should have been kept, but I think that that law would be unfair anyway, but that’s life and that’s football, injuries are unfair too. It happens. And like injuries you can do your best to prevent them as well. It’s true that villa and Fulham probably could have done more, but.

This isnt normal times, totally understandable why consideration is being given. If we were in the same boat and were given the consideration we wouldnt be protesting. Its much easier to be whinging when its helping someone else who needs the consideration. The decisions have been made and I fully understand and agree with them.
