Sky sources: Ross McCormack has had a transfer request rejected by Fulham.
Middlesbrough have had bids for the striker rejected during the January transfer window, but remain interested in the Scot.
Fulham have re-iterated their best players are not for sale in this window, including McCormack and Moussa Dembele.

This is no doubt chucking a spanner in the works and is putting huge pressure on Fulham.

To lose both their strikers when facing a potential relegation would be unthinkable. Hopefully the Dembele deal is too far down the line for this to have an impact. There is no chance they'll get replacements in in time for Monday.

Without reducing to anyone is better than no one, we do need a specialist striker who can fill the role is only to give Kane a break. I've seen people argue that Son can do that role but IMO he should be in the first XI every week so is therefore in need of rest/rotation just as much as Kane. Granted Son has played less games than Kane but we cannot ask him to play 3 games a week between now and May.

I've not seen Dembele play much but he's got a very good goal record for a struggling side. I'd also be impressed if he turned down more lucrative contracts abroad to sign for us. Shows he's got sporting ambition.
So who should be out of the first 11 then?

Lamela? Alli? Eriksen?

Unlikely - until money is actually transferred and contracts signed, it could be cancelled by Fulham at any time.
I think we're going to end up caving in and loaning him back.

I honestly think we'll get this one over the line. Can't see us doing anything else but I'm confident on Dembele. I hope we don't loan him back though

McCormack's price will be the same in the summer. Dembele will walk on a free if they don't cash in now.

This deal is getting stale.... Levy just make this happen ffs.

Why is it Levy's fault?

That's what I don't get with a lot of people on here they ALWAYS blame Levy when a deal is apparently taking longer than they want - you do realise there are multiple parties involved in closing a deal right?

It's not even taken a long time. It took us 3 years to sign Son. We were only first linked with Dembele about 2 months ago

The people who knock Levy for anything/everything also give him no credit for Dier, Alli, Toby, Wimmer, Lloris, Jan etc.i.e. a succession of signings for well below what they are worth. No one is saying he's perfect, but boy has my football club changed since he's been in charge. What's more whenever Tottenham want someone it's always 'Levy wants' etc. When Arsenal want someone it's 'Wenger wants'. We have to live with this ridiculous idea that EVERYTHING at the club is down to Levy when this is far from the truth, but, heh, what's the point of knowing what goes on when it's much easier to blame Levy for anything that goes wrong/doesn't happen and not give him any praise for transforming what was a joke of a football club. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

My only objection is adding a player in a sub-optimal time to do so.

If Dembele/who-ever is the best we could do now or in the summer then do so, but don't get one now if there's a better player available in the summer.

Chances are nearly anyone we get in won't really affect the rest of our season and if they're sub-optimal it will just add to the outgoing bin in a couple years and I was hoping we had put the days of throwing shit at walls behind us.

Son has barely started games so the argument of burning him out is not one I'm buying. Nor is the argument that another position is better to play him at because quite frankly we have good players to play all those positions as well, not exactly like we're weakening the squad by playing Son there.

Expecting to bring anyone in and have them kick-off and start games for us in the case of a Kane injury without a pre-season with Poch is also incredibly optimistic.
I don't see what is sub-optimal about it at all. It's not like we've just turned to Dembele now, I'm sure we've been monitoring him for a while now. If the right player is available then it doesn't matter which window we sign him in. At worst we'll be getting a player for next season who will have the remainder of this season to settle in.
