The most infuriating thing about it is how many actually top players have we missed out on over the years because of Daniel quibbling or moving the goalposts over a million or 2, and then he just drops £30M without a care in the world on this talentless wastrel. Absolute fucking idiocy of the highest order.
Which players have we missed out on? If you mean that other teams paid way above the odds for players, ok, But really, who have we missed out on? Reality is, many of these players wait and wait and wait. If we are the best option, they sign with us. If another "bigger" team comes in, that's where they sign. To say Levy messed up because he didn't sign someone Juve did, or PSG did, or Monaco did, or RM did or ManCity did or Chelsea did, is ridiculous. They all pay more, sometimes just to have them on the bench rather than playing for the competition. You all realize that we do the same to those teams that are below us in terms of stature and ability to pay. Article today that Everton, who are trying to get Gibson from Newcastle, are worried that Spurs will gazump them at the last. Honestly, we do the exact same thing. We just can't do it to those who can out-bid us.

Lots of people on the business side of things are suggesting that the monies, not so much in transfer fees (which are insane), but in salaries, are not sustainable. Even with the new TV money. 75M for Lukaku. 45M plus for Walker. PSG ready to meet the 222M Euros for Neymar.

As to Sissoko, we don't know the reason he was signed. I would never have signed him. Lazy player. Terrible professional which is why Pochettino wants shot of him. Another Adebayor. Wants to play whether he deserves it or not. Cannot stand those type of players. At least Nkoudou and Janssen both acknowledged that they were not working hard enough in training, and, at the end of last season, both looked far more useful. Janssen has been very good for his nation and Nkoudou looks like he has a point to make.

We need a pacey winger who can score some and who can stretch defences while delivering quality crosses in to the box. Anything else would be gravy. Get Marcel. Still get in for Sessegnon, and, if not, Alfonso Davies. There are players out there. Kovacic is so much more polished than Barkley.

Meyer, Kovacic, Barkley, Pereira, Foyth, Gibson, Sessegnon, Iheanacho, Davies, Suso, Marcel, Under, Dembele....there are players out there. Question is, which are the players Poch wants?

I always give players a free pass for their first season with us, and look for the positives in their game. Worked with Lamela and Son, and hopefully Janssen and GKN can kick on this season (if they stay), but Sissoko...

I dunno, just find it hard to see him improving. He came from a PL team, unlike the others. If he wasn't given a second season I wouldn't be bothered.

I'm not talking about last summer. More over the years, how many deals we've nearly got over the line over months of negotiation, Moutinho, morientes
etc, only for them to not go through because of a tiny difference in fee or payment structure. And then we just drop £30m without a second thought on a player a relegated club were desperate to get rid of.

On his Instagram story he is at the training ground today, joking around with Son. Not exactly bed ridden.....
Surely a move back to France is the only option here and Marseille do have money.

Genuinely just wondering. Do you think a single shirt with Sissoko on the back has ever been sold? :D
There's probably some poor guy out there who lost a bet.

Probably a couple sold when he first signed though, on the back of his recent performances for France.

A move back to France makes sense. It would help him with his international ambitions.

one thing is for sure...non of us no what's going on behind the closed doors at spurs, its all speculation, if a player can improve the squad then likely or not he'll be a candidate, if not, they'll more than likely resort to youth players even untried in PL , and either way poch will be saying at the of the window I'm happy with my squad

I think that Sissoko's comments like he had his worst season in football and he needs to be playing regularly to get in France's WC squad next year have done for him. Poch won't tolerate that attitude and he will be shipped out at a loss unfortunately.
Annoys me really when players make these complaints because they are in charge of their own destiny if they perform and he just hasn't performed.. Maybe he just can't cos he really is**t.

That's a bit unfair as the full quote was that it was his most successful year in a team but his worst season personally, he wasn't necessarily having a go at anybody.

Edit: he did through a bit of shade at Poch but this is the quote:
"It was the worst season of my career even though as a team it was certainly the best, so it's weird. We'll talk with my agent to make the best decision. My goal is to go to the 2018 World Cup."

What did me in is that he got all this exclusive media coverage and didn't put it to any use.

Sissoko is in no doubt about looking for a move, but more importantly, towards his future.
"This season was not wasted". Sissoko is keen to point out. "I learned so much from Pochettino, I'm a better player now than before I arrived at Tottenham". Sissoko pauses and gazes toward the horizon. "It is because I have all this motivation in me, and feel so on top of my game, that I'd love a move and a refreshed take on first team football". "But it must be to the right club, that's the only thing keeping me". Sissoko states intently. "A club that plays the kind of football I can fit in and be an asset for".

There. Free promo.

Everton make loan approach for €35m player, want a try-before-buy deal

Everton expected to sign Moussa Sissoko during the last summer transfer window, and it may have been better for all involved if that transfer had gone through.

Tottenham swooped in at the end and in a deal worth €35m, according to L’Equipe, and signed the midfielder from Newcastle United.

The following season wasn’t successful for Sissoko, despite Tottenham having a good campaign. Mauricio Pochettino went to the extent of speaking publicly about his frustrations with the Frenchman, and it was clear something was wrong.

Now comes the time to part, but it’s not proving so easy. L’Equipe say several English clubs have come forward in recent weeks, with Everton the only one named, but the request is a loan.

Everton would prefer a try-before-buy deal and it’s perhaps surprising they have any interest at all, given the way Sissoko skipped them last summer. Daniel Levy isn’t keen on Tottenham loaning the player out, preferring a permanent transfer.

Marseille have an interest, but L’Equipe believe that even if that turns into something concrete, it will only do so in the second half of the market. Lyon are also linked, but they held ‘several conversations recently, without this leading to something concrete’.

Right now, without assuming about unnamed English clubs, the Everton approach may be the only one in town for Sissoko.
