Thats three times in a row, under three different managers, that Liverpool have absolutely raped us.
Whats the common denominator?...................The players aren't good enough and we really need to get shot of at least another 7 or 8.

Think this game came at the right time as some people seemed to be getting away with our 3 wins in a row and losing sight of the fact that we are very much in transition.

Mopo is the right man for us and he will need more time to implement his philosophy. I believe the team will come good under his guidance but we will probably see further changes in personnel as we go along.

It's important not to over react

People got carried away after the QPR and AEL - talk was that we'd already been transformed and I was getting negative ratings for suggesting I'd take a draw before the Liverpool game

This level of raised expectation is what creates the danger for extreme knee jerk reaction to games like yesterday

Ok - it's obvious to anyone who watched that game that we were outclassed in every area, we were outworked and their movement and pace on the counter made us look like boys playing men

The fact is though this Liverpool team is a team that has been skillfully built by an excellent manager and are 2-3 seasons into their development under him. They're where we should be aiming to be by next season basically as we develop under our own manager who we hope will be excellent too

We've already seen good signs from Poch and what we hopefully have to look forward to, but yesterday we were firmly put back in our place. It shouldn't result in despair or fans turning on the team, it should just serve to show us both where we are and hopefully where we're going

We're building something now, there will be ups and there will be downs (the last 2 games actually captures this perfectly) but if we can do what Wenger has been doing for years and what Rodgers has done at Liverpool and build a team with a systems that works, players come in and players go out but the systems is stronger than the sum of its parts and players shines when they play within your system then we will be on the right tracks

Its been a distinct issue of mine for years that Wenger gets his Arsenal players playing above and beyond their abilities, they look like world beaters when they're not (and fail to replicate that form when they leave Wenger and his system/tactics) now Rodgers imo does the same for Liverpool, the team has a good systems, his tactics has them playing with the right tempo, the right passes at the right time, excellent and intelligent movement all on the same wavelength and every move with a purpose.....again the players are components in a machine of a team that works and is bigger and better than the sum of its parts in my eyes

My hope is that after a season until Poch we will be stronger as a team, a cohesive unit that is developing those sort of wavelengths where the movement, the passing, the tempo etc is all in sync and purposeful. I don't expect the consistency to come over night, I don't expect us to be a top team straight away but I want to see us showing signs of becoming a unit where individual players can come in and look better than they are in our team like that do at Arsenal and Liverpool (not like Sig who looks a World beater as soon as he leaves or the likes of Soldado who fails to show form they've previously displayed etc)

Next season we should be looking to have the type of season Liverpool had last year and continuing to grow and build - but this season we have to expect a lot of ups and downs and inconsistency but be looking for signs of a team developing and signs of improvement as the season unfolds. In spite of yesterday I am still excited for what's to come and I hope that Levy and Baldini make the right type of signings to allow the manager the best chance he can have to develop such a team

When I watched Liverpool beat us at WHL last season I thought they were one of the best teams going forward and with the loss of Suarez, I hoped this threat may have been reduced but yesterday they showed that if given the time and space they are still just as good. They attack quickly with lots of bodies and take advantage of the poor defending (1st goal) and lack of closing down (3rd goal).

Saying that though, this therefore leaves them open at the back and we we had 2 great chances to get back at them, Adebayor lobbing Mignolet and hitting the top netting and Chadli's half volley in the 1st half (He made a great run and certainly got plenty of power, just a shame it was a good height for Mignolet). Had either, or both, of those gone in we'd have been going in at half time 1-1 or 2-1 up. On another day they will.

On the whole though, a bit of a mixed bag in terms of perfomance, the main areas i noticed:

Lloris - still as reliable as ever when it comes to positioning, saves, etc but boy was his kicking a little suspect today, the main one being Ballotelli's miss kick when gifted it by Hugo!

CB's - I didn't think Vertoghen or Kaboul played overly well today and could have been caught out more if it wasn't for Capoue and Bentaleb managing to save them.

Lamela - Another good game from him, didn't have as much influence as against QPR or Limmasol (1st leg) but got stuck in and tried to get something going. Also showed a little bit of grit when giving Allen a shove for wrestling him to the ground.

Eriksen - What's happening with him? In all the performances so far this season, he's seemed a little slow, not as inventive as we was last season and just a little distracted. Hopefully just a quiet phase which will soon clear.

Townsend - Oh dear, brought on at 0-2 to help look for a goal and with virtually his first touch, slipped and gave away position to allow Moreno a 50 yard run at goal.

Finally, closing down and positioning - As above, the closing down for the 3rd goal was non existent, literally. Got the ball on the wing in his own half and ran the whole length of the pitch with noone even attempting a tackle. There were glimpses of this throughout the game where players just seemed to drift and allowed them to play the high tempo, attacking game that they are good at.

Abit dissapointing to have lost the game in the way we did and against lesser teams, would probably have got through it but as a previous poster above, I'd rather us to have lost in that way to a likely top 4 contender than dropping points at Leicester, after all, 3 games in and still a long way to go.

The Eriksen of the start of this season is the Eriksen of the start of last season; he is thinking too much rather than relying on instinct. Tim's realisation was that at this stage in his development Eriksen needs to be given freedom to invent - tactical discipline will come later (hopefully). The free role Tim gave to Eriksen buggered our shape, but arguably it saved our season. Inspiration trumps tactics.

The single biggest problem was that they got an early goal. We've not got a stable defence or settled side yet, if we'd started well and gained some early confidence we'd have played much more fluently and really given them a game. Unfortunately we took a hit very early on which unsettled us, Capoue and Bentaleb we forced deeper to help out a very dodgy defence, Lamela had to come play way too deep all game and Eriksen is very much out of form.

Pretty sure Poch can sort it all out. One thing that does concern me though is that Verts/Kaboul really does not look a good partnership. Verts is just back from injury but Kaboul looks a real liability, despite him actually having a lot of game time lately
