My dad passed away this week after a thankfully short battle with cancer aged 75
Spurs are synonymous with my dad, he first took me to a game when I was 7, first memories were Terry McDermott scoring a screamer against us in a cup tie
The early 80s were the best time of my life, me and my dad going to every home game watching that great team, went to 81 82 87 and 91 finals with him but the biggest joy was 84
Going home and away to Anderlecht was amazing, the 84 final getting to the ground early as from memory it was pay at the gate , being behind the goal when the final pen was saved, my dad and me hugging going mad is still the best feeling I have ever had, my dad told me before he died it was the happiest day of his life
Dad thanks, thanks for the memories, thanks for spurs, thanks for everything, it won't be the same without you

Sincere condolences @knowlespurs . Losing a parent is really tough. Some great memories there. Think of those when you feel sad.

So sorry for your loss at this time... Keep hold of the precious memories and the good memories of those games as that will hopefully help you through the grieving process.. And over time you will remember him fondly whilst watching future games..
Lots of love..x

So sorry to hear that. Embrace those memories. Write about them. Share them.

It comes in waves. Has for me since my dad died in 2011.

And when you have a question you would go to him for, ask it. You’d be surprised how often those we have love and lost show up in our dreams. Often when we have those questions.

Sending love and light. ❤️

Condolences at this difficult time mate

Sad, but brilliant memories - can relate to virtually all of that and other than Andelecht away would have been at WHL/Wembley with my late dad for all of those ?

I'm sorry to hear of your family's loss. What amazing memory. That '84 UEFA cup final memory in particular was pretty special.

So sad to read this. I’m so sorry for your loss and deepest condolences to you, your family and everyone who knew your Dad. One thing is for sure - your Dad adored you and was clearly bursting with pride at those amazing times spent with you following this great club. Cherish those memories and no doubt you’ll always be thinking of him, particularly after matches when you’ll be wondering what he would’ve made of the performance.

thoughts and prayers with you and yours at this really difficult time

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Both my parents are in their 70s and both are dealing with cancer.

But I love hearing about those kinds of memories. They remind us that going to the football grew out of a shared community and familial love, and not this tribal "bantz" nonsense of today.
