I'm very sorry for your loss. There are bigger things in life than football related tribalism and at the end of the day we are all just people. Hug your friends and family and I hope that you find comfort in this noble venture.

I'm thinking of you mate and as someone who has lost close family in a tragic and unexpected way I can only offer this: try to remember the good times and the cool funny things he did. Share stories and tell joke about the daft things he did. Celebrate his life instead of mourning his passing. It helped me.

Really upsetting to read that, my love goes out to you and to your step dad. There can’t be anything worse in life than losing your own child but I can already tell that he’s lucky to have a son in you who cares this much for him.

If there’s any just giving page or another type of collection going towards a heart charity on behalf of your family please let us all know and I’ll do what I can as I’m sure many others will. Of course I put in for that anyway but it would be more about helping your family do something too to help navigate this time.

Hello, I am an Arsenal fan and wouldn’t normally come to a Spurs community forum but I need us to put rivalries aside for the sake of my step-father.

David Gooch is the biggest, kindest Tottenham fan, regularly attending home games, 2 weeks ago today he was getting ready to attend the first game of the season at Tottenham Hotspur stadium vs City.

Before the game he received the most horrific call from his son’s girlfriend that his son Sean Gooch had suffered multiple heart attacks when out for a run. Sean being a 26 year old healthy runner, this was a massive shock. Without hesitation, David drove up north to Manchester to be by his son’s side. He was put into an induced coma as his brain had been deprived of oxygen for over 90 minutes. Things took a turn and he had to have his leg amputated the next morning because of a blood clot. This was done to give him a chance of survival. Unable to breath by himself, he was using up to full capacity of life support, expecting the worst David was by his sons side, playing his favourite music in hope of a miracle. This miracle did not come as Sean passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 18th August.

David is heartbroken at the loss of his only son and I too at the loss of my step-brother. I fear my step father may never be the same again and his passion for his beloved Spurs may never be what it was. After losing his father and mother in recent years I’ve noticed he’s never quite returned to his old bantering ways at my expense!

Please help me to honour Sean in some way, show David that you are all there and you hear him and feel his pain. Where do I go for Tottenham to hear this and do some kind of gesture for David and his son (my step-

I would do anything to bring Sean back and make my step-father have some happiness again, even if it meant Spurs winning the league and Champions league.

Thank you, Spurs fans.

That's a very nice tribute - it's hard to know what to really say in these situations but any parent or sibling or partner could understand the anguish of losing a loved one, especially so suddenly and at a young age. Best wishes to you and your family.

My sincere condolences to you, David and family at an awful time.
I can’t match what @Micky Hazard has offered, but if David ever wants to go to a game, I’m happy to help him get a seat near where I sit or happy to meet for a drink pre and post game on any games he can goto, and support best way I can.
Best wishes, Beni x

This is so tragic. Thank you for sharing this with us all. No words can heal the loss, but I'm sure you have shared with him that the whole Spurs family shares his grief, and hopefully that will at least give him some comfort.

Take care of David, mate. And take care of yourself as well.

And now I've just heard from Micky Hazard, and he asked me to pass on to you all that he has spoken to David this morning, and when David feels up to it, after the funeral, he's to call Micky and they will attend a game together.

There are times when I absolutely love the people in here, and this is one of them.

My heart goes out to David, and to our Arsenal friend here. Let's hope that the world starts to make sense again soon.

Mabbsy and Micky, those guys get it on so many levels.

I can’t say I was very close to Sean but I’ve felt the effects of this loss, more so for Sean himself and Dave. Thank you ??

I've just heard from Mabbsy that he had a long chat with David today. Hopefully that has helped him cope for a bit.
Yes both Gary Mabutt and Micky called him today! Amazing ? so glad they did, lovely gesture x
