In before the headline misleads:

The 25-year-old said he could understand why he was substituted.

“I did not do well enough and I think when I criticise myself I don’t see what the others do and my game was the level I expected and I want to play better,” he said.

Asked what Spurs had left to play for this season, he replied: “We focus now to win every game.”

like that he criticized himself - he had a few very good moments (first half beating several players and laying the ball off to Eriksen and second 1/2 dummy releasing himself down the left) but not at the level he was before he left to address the family bereavement. He is someone Poch wants to back for next season and that makes 100% sense
8 goals, 5 assists in the league (and a few more in the cup) is something to build on

judging by the burnley game and yesterdays performance the players couldn't give a fuck
another wasted season levy

yeah, you're right: A cup final, the emergence of the hottest young English player, plus a few other youngsters, and (most likely) a finish of 6th/7th (which, given the change in manager, etc) is not surprising...... Another completely wasted season(!)

I have been happier this season than I have in the last 2-3 years. At least I feel like we are going in the right direction and have a likeable playing group.

The emergence and improvement in Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Rose, Dier, arguably even Chadli has been very pleasing to watch. These players can identify with the club and its supporters. I like prefer watching them than players like Capoue, Paulinho etc....

the three ams were pish, producing only very occasional flashes, with eriksen leaving his shooting boots behind again. they were the main reason for villas clean sheet.

that is why mourinho wins trophies, and others dont, by the way. i can hear the pain in n1, and i fookin luv it...

Blessed with so much talent but when it came round to issuing out passion and hard work he definitely was last in the queue. IMHO an extremely frustrating player who has gone totally off the boil since his father's passing away which, having been more than 3 months ago, shows a lack of professionalism.

Yeah a cup final that we lost. That effing Europa League has killed our season again. I hope to God that we don't qualify for it next season.

I was at the game yesterday and was appalled like everyone else. Just didn't look like the same side that done Chelsea and Arse. Such a disappointing end to a season.

Harsh. I don't think you can judge another person's response to trauma. Perhaps it has more to do with lack of emotional resilience than lack of professionalism. Who can say? I still get sad when I pass the road where my cat was run over two years ago.

Yet another full-of-excuses, wait-until-next-season, overly optimistic post that is typical from the vast majority of Levy defenders on this forum.

A league cup final? We got to Wembley thanks to a very easy draw - Forest, Brighton, Newcastle (who had the magnificent Jak Alnwick in goals!?!) & Sheffield United. We were predictably outclassed in the final by the only decent team we came up against. Still, if you think that's the sign of a return to the good ol' glory days at the Lane, then so be it...

Sure, Harry Kane has had a fantastic season so far. I'm delighted for him because he's Spurs through-and-through, but I'm not going to crown him the next Shearer, next Lineker or even the next Clive Allen quite yet. Let's see how he gets on next season before coming to any firm conclusions - this league is full of 'one season wonders'. But nevertheless, he's done really well this season - but his success has papered over more than a few cracks elsewhere on the team.

A few other youngsters? I assume you mean Bentaleb and Mason? They've been OK, nothing more, nothing less. Would they see any playing time for any of the top four teams or Liverpool? or even Southampton? I doubt it. Both of them are on a par with Jake Livermore. But perhaps you think we should bring him back too?

A finish of 6th or 7th? Justified by the change in manager? OK, whatever. If that's your definition of 'success', then keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Even Sherwood got us into 6th last season despite much more upheaval on the playing side and he wasn't thanked for it. What makes Poch any better?

It's quite clear what has happened, and what is continuing to happen, at this club. It's been steadily down-hill since 2010 when Harry got us into 4th. Even despite a failure to invest on the playing side by Levy, Redknapp still got the best out of the players available to him for three seasons, where we finished 4th, 5th and 4th.

Since then, under Levy's brilliant stewardship and his hand-picked managerial merry-go-round of AVB, Sherwood and Poch, we have gone, 5th, 6th and now 7th.... not exactly a trend that says 'this club is heading in the right direction'.

I'm seem to have angered you - sorry about that; all I like to do is spread the love, man.

Actually, I'd like you to point out to me where I was 'full of excuses'? I was replying to a post that had quantified the season as a 'waste'; personally, I don't see it as a waste for the reasons I mentioned.

Do I see it as a resounding success? NO. Do I think we could have done better? YES. Do I want us to do better? Hell YES! But a waste of a season? No, don't agree with that.

Any, sending the love back round dude.

The last two games have been a real disgrace and a sad eye-opener.
We seem to have lost our spirit, drive and desire - I don't think MoPo's rotation or selection has been good enough. With Man Shitty slipping weekly - those extra 4 points (If we'd have wanted them) - would have us sitting nicely.
You can't blame Europa league at this stage of the year - we're only playing once a week - we looked better playing twice a week!
These last two weeks - lame - very lame.

I just cannot make up my mind about Chadli; he can be very good, but a lot of times, he's useless.

There have been 15 of those under Dismal Danny, expect more of the same

14.

Including that one where we won the league cup, that one where we got CL football for the first time, and that one where we got to the QF of the CL on our first attempt.
