I would hope that would be the case since the latter cost 30 bloody million. As it stands though, they've both contributed similar and there is no evidence to suggest that one is completely shit and the other is a guaranteed star in the making. Other than the deep wishes of some fans.
Dont remember Chadli(i do think hes a good player)showing anything like the display against Sherrif that Lamela did.
In fact i dont remember anyone of our players this season putting in a display like that.
So to say they have played similar is a injustice to lamela.

I like Chadli works hard off the ball and is intelligent on it.

After hearing Tim use the phrase ''Up and art 'em'' yesterday i'm a bit worried any kind of intelligence on the wing is going to be sacrificed for pace with no end product...

looks to have all the tools but no balls, if he was more aggressive he could be a top player.

Holtby vs Sunderland i think would come close,
Erikson vs Norwich and Newcastle too, but i see your point to a degree.

I just dont think its fair write off a 21 year old during his first half season at a club

I've not seen Chadli put in as shit a performance as Lamela did against Sheriff away, so there's two sides.

I don't think many people, if anybody is writing off Lamela at 21. They are, however writing off Chadli at 24.

Fair play, i thought he was younger than that! I still think some of the comments on here have been particularly harsh to a player who has played in the same struggling system as everyone else./

I'm willing to give all of the players the benefit of the doubt until we see how they cope with whatever changes Sherwood makes.

Chadli clearly has some talent and is also versatile. Like all of our attacking players this season he has suffered from the tactics that have been employed. It is difficult to really shine when there is no cohesion to the team. I've seen Soldado scream for the ball so many times and not get it because the player in possession is scared to lose the ball and so decides to go sideways. The same can be said for Chadli in the sense that any creativity he does possess has been stifled by the clear instruction to keep the ball and not take risks. He has put some lovely crosses into the box and often the only player in there is Soldado. If we had been getting numbers in the box how many assists might he have by now? If he were playing in front of BAE or Rose instead of bloody Naughton how much more effective would he have been? He would have had far more license to take risks because he didn't have Kyle "I can't turn left because I'm Derek Zoolander" Naughton behind him.

I think they all need to start with a clean slate as they have not had the chance to show us anything like their best so far. Hopefully now they will.

chadli is no different to those players, a decent enough squad player but won't go any further than that.

Bugger me, you reckon? Doesn't mean anything when we're talking about what they've done for us so far. But since you mention it, both scored a lot of goals last year.

Which is why we bought them, we scored very few from midfield last year apart from Bale.
And ive been very critical against Lamela and his goal ratio.
He should scored against Man City although i dont think it would have made a difference.
He should have scored against Fulham when Defoe set him up and was unlucky with his deflected shot.
Should have scored against Anzhi with the Header and his shot was saved well by the keeper at the end.
So for a player not playing that good he sure knows how to get into scoring positions and his assist ratio isnt bad either.
Cant wait till he really gets going can you

A versatile attacking player with good skills on the ball, goalscoring potential & physical attributes that pretty much no-one else in the attacking unit shares, for £7m. What's the problem with him being a squad player again?

By your logic we should never sign any players from leagues that you don't rate.

i was too blunt with my point but kendall's post infers that both were on a par before joining spurs. chadli scoring 10 goals in holland is hardly the same feat as a 20yr old scoring 15 in serie a. lamela has been considered for some time as being one of the most highly thought of youngsters in world football, chadli is just some guy who has been doing alright for fc twente, that alone is enough of a reason to elevate lamela above chadli in any spurs related discussion. lamela is a potential superstar but because we haven't seen it in his grand total of 239 minutes of premier league football we're dismissing everything he did prior to joining thfc?

lamela can be the future of this club, it's not a given but it's a strong possibility. chadli won't be - unless our future is midtable.
