Kind of interesting if true with once again a loan and obligation to buy again next summer.

So it is true what was said at the start of the window that we are skint? We have no funds this summer and by the sounds of it are already spending next summers money?

Unless kane goes of coarse which at this point seems appealing and possibly, deep down, necessary.

Worrying.

this will have my paratici excitement severely dented. I like all the talk of what hes doing but sub gk, sub winger and sub defensive midfield are not exactly the positions i wanted to strengthen

Why does everything have to be assumed to be a negative?

If you have the leverage to push costs and spread payment terms as a club - or really any business whatsoever - you should do so.

Cash is king.

There may be other transfer battles to come where we have less leverage, and so will need all the muscle we can get.

Vlahovic for example, where we may or may not have preserved more financial muscle than Athletico. Maybe they can match our wages, but not the payment schedule to Fiorentina, or the signing on bonus.

It all adds up.

If these were the only positions in which we are looking to strengthen, then your disappointment would be somewhat justified. But that clearly isn't the case. Let's wait to see where we're at in two weeks time.

Maybe so, or maybe we dint have any money just as i said. Truth will be known once the window shuts but as it stands our net spend is zero, wage bill reduced by a fair amount and no forward bought.

I am looking at it as i see it, we have already spent around 40m of next summers money, possibly more if we get this guy, this is true no?
Perhaps its meaningless and next summer we have a fresh kitty on top of what we are committing to now or perhaps not.

And you are presuming we have cash? (Cash is king)
I'd love it if we were doing all these loans with obligations whilst keeping a suitcase with 60/70/80m under the bed ready but that is just blind optimism. You are trying to see something that isnt there.

Only if kane goes (which id like him to) will we spend big money, i believe.

I agree with that however, we’re not stacked with money so i see this signing as a strange one

I'm doing nothing of the sort.

I am simply challenging you're assertion that everything must be in turmoil because we haven't yet paid out a load of cash up front on deals where we didn't need to.

I think you're conflating our current net spend with the striker situation, and assuming that means we have no budget.

First of all it's obvious that THFC the business will have more cash next year. The stadium has bee closed for 18 months, and we've recently announced various commercial deals.

So it makes perfect sense to want to push the payments into future years. Why wouldn't you want to do that?

As regards the striker situation - who knows what our finances and projections really are. But it seems perfectly obvious that the Kane situation is messy and complicating our purchases, as is getting players out the door in a dead market (outside the PL).

How can we possibly know what striker to buy without a final outcome or deadline of some sort? What do you tell prospective signings about their game time?

Anyway I digress from the Nandez thread.

I understand your concerns, and maybe you'll be proved right, but I disagree on what these payment structures signify.

I think we're doing pretty well in a tough market, and far better than most clubs even in the PL.

If we sign this guy we'll have one of the most "thug passion" teams in the prem. I for one welcome it.

Totally agree!
As much as I like a team with flair, I'd love to see a steely tough Spurs team.
Tbf we did a bit of that on Sunday - a fair few tough challenges on Grealish, shut him right up.
Love it!!

Agreed.

For all the beautiful football they played, the Double team was, by all accounts, hard as nails.

Okay but if you’re saying let’s wait and see I totally agree.

Except you’re not doing a let’s wait and see you’re preemptively complaining and worrying.

Your entire point hinges on something that’s not worth discussing at this point in time and you seem to know that but you’re still going on with it.
