That's my point though. The type of players being extolled are the "marquee" signings that would be demanding wages comparable with our peers. Wages well upwards of £100K, even £150K plus, which would have our other key players demanding comparable. As I said in my first post, it's a slippery slope that has no guarantee of success and, IMHO, is a little too early for us as we do not yet have the structure in place to absorb and mitigate should a failure to achieve required goals occur.

It's about the timing, and our time for this type of calculated gamble is not yet, again IMO.

I didn't think they were these types of players being demanded, but if so then your point is valid

On this point though, the likes of Barkley, Marhez, Foyth, Periera, etc aren't really top draw marquee signings

Sure they'd improve us, but I would imagine that they'd be happy to join for £100k a week or under

Marhez might be an issue (he signed a 4 year deal http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37112706 so might be on 100k a week already), but the others aren't on that type of money

The poster I originally replied to was effectively saying we needed 2-3 of those "top quality" players that I'm referring to. I doubt he was alluding to the players you mention as I don't think any of those players would be classed as "difference makers," as in they'd be the type that you would expect to elevate us, World class if you will.

The likes of Barkley and Mahrez, provided we can get them for an acceptable price, are the type that, should they fail, we can absorb the hit on and shouldn't push us into an unsustainable wage vs turnover bracket, so I agree with your thinking there.
