What about only the last 3 seasons? Does anyone have the numbers?

it's easy to splash cash and spend it on crap and have a bloody useless squad. Look how much the likes of Sunderland have spent in recent seasons and what have they got for that? Even LIverpool have spent a small fortune and are only now starting to get something like a decent squad.

It's much more difficult to actually generate money and improve squad as you go along - and that appears to be what we have done!! We have a number of quality players with their best years ahead of them, a number of which could easily be on a par with the Modric, VdV and Bale of recent years.

Just trust that the money that hasn't been spent is available for the new stadium because we need that like NOW!

You know what he can't do anything right in some people's eyes! Come on after this transfer window we still complain, seriously!!

We need to start to appreciate what we have

For a Chairman desperate to qualify for the Champions League, we have spent - £30mil since we last qualified.

2013/2014: -£2,700,000
2012/2013: -£1,300,000
2011/2012: - £27,000,000

Great that we have a sensible Chairman that invests what we can afford without getting us into debt. Hopefully anything left over will be invested in the new stadium

It is somewhat frustrating that there is money to spend and we finished the window with some glaring weaknesses. We've got a hell of a fight on our hands for fourth and if in January our left side has cost us points hopefully the money will be there to shore it up. Let's see what these guys can do until then. We are actually in something like 70million debt. Then add to that we our operating costs are at a loss too I'm very surprised that Levy actually reinvested the entire 100million from sales.

what leads you to that conclusion?

reckless spending chasing glory? we have a sensible model which will bring us glory. It was only 20 odd years ago we almost went bust- look at the drivel we had to put up with up until recently. ENIC and levy's approach has given us the best squad in living memory- WITHOUT SPENDING MORE THAN WE GET IN. once we get the stadium built a bit of spending will be sustainable but not yet.

Getting allot of stick for the OP. My point is were finishing 1,2,3 points of 4th place for the past 2 seasons and that little extra each season could have go us there.

Could having a stronger left back ahead of Danny Rose get 3 extra points this season?
Could having a top quality Striker last season got us an extra point?

I am not suggesting Levy should go out and spend an extra 100million. But being prepared to spend 15mil on Contreao, or 25mil on Saldado a year ago might make a difference without really putting the stadium or the long term future of the club in jeopardy if the gamble doesn't pay off.

We all heard the ITK's talking about the meeting between Levy, Lewis & AVB and it was suggest there was 50mil to spend to make us title challengers. That 50mil extra could have still been spent on another forward, a LB and a LW to make us title challengers imo.

I don't think anybody expects crazy spending, just that we should be investing in the team more than Crystal Palace and West Brom

50 million is almost half the cost of the new stadium. get that sorted first then we can spend on wages - remember fees arent the problem it is the wages which cause the problem- the players to change team into title challengers will want massive wages. golden rule to pay wages your income cant cover.
