It’s been a strange old summer.
There were points where many of us wondered if we’d even appoint a manager.
We all know about what’s going on with our best player and talisman.
Another couple of remnants of the Pochettino era, and all it meant to us, have been dispersed with, as has even poor old Coytey.
And now, we have a couple of highly rated young players to bed in and we have several players of various ages who, fitness permitting, should be better for us than they were after gaining more experience either at Spurs or on loan. Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon, Reguilón, Bergwijn, Tanganga, Rodon, and more.
Then we have a few remaining remnants, some like Lloris we hope can keep up their level a bit longer, some like Son who we expect to, and some like Dele, Lucas, Winks, Sanchez, Dier, who are currently still with us and such we need to perform better than they have in a fair while, but probably also need to support better than we have in a fair while.
And now, after 18 months of watching almost completely from a distance, we can give them and all the others that support, that twelfth man, that impetus again. I’ve missed being there terribly, and I’m sure many of the rest of you also have. Some may not have and some may not even be returning. I hope to be returning as a better supporter, one who knows what he’s missed since early 2020, and will treasure just being there again.
Yes, I want to win, and yes like all the other supporters who attend I spend a high price so want to be rewarded with good football and with success. But I’m not entitled to it, and if I don’t get behind the 11 I’m our colours each and every time they I’m there, I don’t deserve it either.
So tomorrow
whatever happens
however you feel about the owners
the choice of manager
the signings or lack of
or any individuals stepping over the white line at 4pm
once those names are read out, you’re in your seat and that whistle goes, get behind the team, let the opposition hear you roar, and believe that in a match of 11 v 11 men, success is always possible,
Come On You Spurs!!!
