Steven Caulker has signed a new contract, keeping him at the Club until 2013.

The central defender, who has just completed his England duty at the European Under-19 Championships, spent last season gaining experience on loan at Yeovil, where he made 46 appearances - also featuring on two occasions for our Under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup.

Such was the success of the 18-year-old's spell at Huish Park that he won four out of five of the club's end-of-season awards.

Good to see us giving some of the youngsters new contracts as well as the first team

Academy players Ryan Fredericks, Harry Kane and Callum Tapping have signed their first professional contracts with the Club.

The 17-year-olds are entering their second full-time season in our Academy system. Ryan made 16 appearances and scored seven goals for our Under-18 side last season, with Callum making eight appearances, while Harry featured on 22 occasions, scoring 18 goals.

Both Ryan and Harry were last season named as substitutes in Cup competitions for the First Team.

I'm hoping that Caulker will become our next King minus the injuries.

Caulker seems to have good prospects, and I think Kane has potential to make the grade. Not too sure about Tapping (never seen) or Fredericks. Fredericks was poor on wednesday night, but I didnt realise he is still only 17, and I think he was given tactical orders that didnt really suit him.

Very good record for Kane, especially considering he was a 16 year old playing in an Under 18's league too.

He's started his England Under 17 career well too.

Looking forward to seeing Caulker progress too. There's talent there, let's hope we can harness it and take them to the top.
