New deals for JJ and Daws

The Club is delighted to announce that Jermaine Jenas and Michael Dawson have signed contract extensions that will see the pair at White Hart Lane until 2013.

Jermaine, 25, joined in August 2005 from Newcastle United and has gone on to make 111 appearances, while contributing 21 goals from midfield. His form last season saw him win a recall to the England side and he was the first goalscorer of Fabio Capello's reign as national team manager.

The 24-year-old Michael has now made 136 First Team appearances in our colours since joining from Nottingham Forest in January 2005, scoring three goals. The popular central defender, who has been named in a number of England squads, made 40 appearances last season.

I'm delighted ! Two committed players that are still young and have alot more to give. I'm especially hopeful for Dawson because he has shown he is capable but like Jenas just needs to perform at the highest level on a consistent basis.

JJ signed a new 5 year deal last August, maybe this one year extension is just another pay rise. Either way good news as players like JJ and Daws are heading for the best years of their career.

Really pleased about JJ. Dawson I’m fairly ambivalent about. He’s nowhere near as bad as is made out on here, but he is now 24, so there is unlikely to be much to come from him. But in general both deals are good news, as both players get so much shit on here, it’s going to piss a lot of people off, which i quite like.

I also agree that Daws is one I'm not convinced by - but we'll certainly need all our remaining CBs this season as it looks like we'll only be buying one more, if any at all - while it looks like Rocha and Kaboul are offski
