I'm guessing our third will look very similar to this, with an altered pattern and light shade of blue.

Yeah agree, it seems Nike are not going to be too imaginative this season with the 3rd kits, but I'd be happy with that. Happy with that as a Home too, tbh. Don't mind a collar, not like we have them as much as we did in the 90's anyway

Question re kits in general: I’ve seen a few people mention dislike if a collar. Personally, I don’t have an opinion either way, but interested to know why people dislike them?

If we do a kit with a collar a certain percentage of people moan. Do one without and guess what.

That's fair enough. I'm just wondering why some people don't like collars. Again, I have no opinion on them myself, just wondering why some don't like them?

Is that to the point that you prefer a replica kit to have a collar?

Think we’ve had nice collared kits. Adidas, Puma, Admiral. Even the Hummel collar was nice. I’m open to it, you rarely get to choose. Only Pony ones I can think of being really bad.

Not had one in ages so hard to compare in modern times. But I will defo be buying that light blue one if it’s that with collar and old Nike logo. A white version of the would be way nicer than this season’s home.

Most recent one was Rafa and Modrić's last season with us I think. That's a really nice shirt.

I dont like the collars to be made out of the same material as the kit, like with the Puma and Under Armour ones, has to be that stretchy stuff... Like a Polo collar

Red is their brand colour, so it will be red when ever it can be.

The problem with some of our away and 3rd kits is that a red logo doesn't stand out clearly, so they use a back up colour.

It's like we use the navy logo on home kits, but a white one on the 2nd and 3rd kits (same with nike)
I've replied on this before. Companies, particularly larger ones always have brand rules, in terms of how/where their brand can be used, the specific colour palate and other things like spacing in relation to other logos and marks.

Most brands have a coloured logo/name which is the standard for use on white/pale backgrounds and then a variant which is usually predominantly white for use on dark/coloured backgrounds. As the sponsor is paying the contract will ordinarily be dictated by the sponsor to ensure that their brand identity is protected. As we have a white shirt that inevitably means that we end up with their standard colour logo, whatever that may be. Teams with other coloured shirts then often end up with the white version, although on occasion you get a full colour logo with a white border.

It's just one of those things you have to accept, if you're going to ask someone to pay you money for their name to be on your shirt, they are going to want a pretty big say in how that is going to appear!

AIA is based in Hong Kong. The Chinese are very fond of red as it represents joy, good fortune etc. Taken directly from Wiki:

Red, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Red is found everywhere during Chinese New Year and other holiday celebrations and family gatherings. A red envelope is a monetary gift which is given in Chinese society during holiday or special occasions. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck. Red is strictly forbidden at funerals as it is a traditionally symbolic color of happiness;[1] however, as the names of the dead were previously written in red, it may be considered offensive to use red ink for Chinese names in contexts other than official seals.

In modern China, red remains a very popular color and is affiliated with and used by the Government.

Collars aren't the best thing for running around. The least amount of friction points and thicker areas of material the better.

I like collars, if done nicely. The Nike French kit for 2014 (I think) was lovely. They’ve also done some nice ones for Holland too.
