So when exactly will necessity dictate that our blue/navy blue kit will not be sufficient and we will be required to wear our purple kit? A third kit should be completely different to the away kit really - a chalk and cheese difference. Mind you, at least we haven't got Norwich's kits this season, which are yellow and green (home) yellow and green (away) and yellow and green (3rd).

It does beg the question why a 3rd shirt is needed more than once or twice a season. It would be (mildly) interesting to see the breakdown of games played in each shirt for the past few years.

You seen Newcastle the last few years? Usually whatever kits we've had have clashed with theirs.

Also irritates the piss out of me when two teams in stripes play each other, just hurts my eyes to the point i turn it off.

Adidas striped kits are even worse, i think it was likes of Stoke kit last year where the outside stripe was red but with 3 white stripes running down the sleeves and the stripe on the seam was white:banghead:

If you're the away team and your away shirt doesn't clash then you should have to wear your away kit IMO, especially when you have like 5 striped teams in the same league using the same kit supplier with the same generic layout.

Sorry i appear to have gone off on one :bag:

3rd kit is just another money spinner.

If all clubs were told to make an away kit that is the polar opposite to the home kit it would be fine.

For us, where we wear white shirt and navy shorts, we just wear navy shirts and white shorts.

If a team has stripes then they dont on their away kit and the colours are different.

Worst comes to worst, both teams eat their away kits.

What if we play away against a team in white and blue striped home kit, and we have a white and then navy away kit?

Not really sure how eating the away kits solves anything.

Bloody autocorrect!

@Yid-ol not really sure how it's a problem. Can mix and match to play all in white or all in navy to best differentiate from the opponents.

The 3rd kit is just another way to get extra income
Don't we advertise it as the 'Cup Kit'?

So it becomes the away kit in Cup Competitions.

Do all the PL clubs bring out a 3rd kit?

It' just advertised as the 3rd kit, the cup shirts where introduced when we had different shirt sponsors for the Premier League and Europa/FA/League Cup.

I think so far only us, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle have announced 3rd shirts for 15/16.

Even Champ teams bring out a 3rd kit now. It's just an alternate away kit, nothing more than that really

Years ago it was know as the "European kit" and only teams in Europe had 3 kits. But now literally everyone does.

No one's forcing you to buy it.
