I'll give you that my list of "top' kits is random. I base the list on the fact that those teams at least put out a classic home shirt. I'll give you that they mess around with the away shirts, sometimes (although sometimes they even leave those alone, too- see Man City last season, for instance), but they at least keep the home normal. Also, the away is often times the exact same kit as the (simple, classic) home shirt, simply using a different color template (as when Chelsea's away shirt was exactly the same as their home one, only the base color was yellow- or when Liverpool's "Carlsberg" away shirt was the same, just switched to grey, or when Real madrid's away shirt was the same, only switched to navy blue, etc.). My point is that a lot of the time the teams with classic home kits stay streamlined and classic on the away side, simply changing color combos, not adding bells and whistles like we do. This isn't always the case, but does seem to happen quite a bit, whereas we almost always seem to try and gussy it up and rarely stay simple and classic.

Am I wrong? Do Spurs not almost always do weird shit to their kit(s)? Are not classic, beautiful Tottenham shirts almost always the exception, rather than the rule? Are we not disappointed with our looks with mind-numbing regularity? And if so, why is this?

These rants were slightly amusing the first couple of times. The next 100 rants were really annoying. Please stop. You hate the new kits. We know. End.

These are just a few of the comments from various SC posters regarding what turned out to be a FAKE kit, one hastily put together by a Spurs fan using Photoshop, done in a matter of minutes:

"The blue one is phenomenal. Might even be my favourite Spurs away kit ever. Hope it's real."
"I hope their real. That yellow one is the shiz. I'd buy it (even though I've been telling myself I'll by a white one this time)."
"Well i hope they are real they look good in my opinion!"
"Hope they're real, love em all."
"If those are the kits I am a happy lad! Great, classic feel to them (the yellow one especially) but they are all very strong."
"I'm not usually bothered about kits but those look stunning."
"Those three are all great, I hope they are real."
"I pray that those kits are real, I'd buy the away and 3rd ones immediately."
"That home kit is sex!"
"That away kit is beautiful, would be one of the best in years."
"So many people (including me) love all 3 kits..."
"Love those retro kits..."
"Loving these, getting me the away kit on release date if it's real!"
"Wow, all 3 look the dogs balls, delighted with these."
"God I hope these are the real kits because they indeed are excellent."
"They all look great. It's the happiest I've been with a set of kits since, well...it's the happiest I've ever been with a set of kits."
"Just seen it, probably the nicest new kit I've seen so far."

These are just a few of the comments from various SC posters regarding what I maintain will turn out to be our actual kit for 2014-15:

"Sorry - but I'm not a fan of this..."
"I hope those aren't our change kits, I hate black and yellow together anyway so to have that in two of our kits would piss me right off. Neither of them make me think 'wow that's nice I'll buy it'"
"... if it is real, then what is wrong with Under Armour..."
"Hope these ones are fake as well. That yellow trim home one is a fucking disgrace. How can we look like a proper football team in that?"
"Not a fan of the bike jacket shirt..."
"Normally I think, it'll look better when the players are wearing it with full kit, or, it's a grower. I can't see that ever looking good. In fact, I fear what the shorts and socks will look like."
"...the home one is just horrible."
"Fairly underwhelmed."
"As it's looking now I definitely won't be buying it."
"If these are real... Bar the yellow one, probably the worst kit we've ever had."
"Praying that home one is fake, it's awful!"
All 3 of em look horrible to me. Really hope none are legit, dont like the black, yellow, or the bike shirt. Noone at the club would really accept these would they? How hard is it to do a kit? Im hoping as someone mentioned earlier that UA wouldnt be this amateurish and let all these leaks out."
"If that white/black/yellow home kit is real then it's by far the worst kit I've seen."
"I remain hopefull that these shirts are fake. If they are real they are the fucking worst."
"These leaked ones are awful."
"The problem for me is that the leaked kits look cheap and classless. Chelsea kits, for example, are simple but classy, but I get the feeling UA are trying to be too clever."
"Why do they always feel they have to muck around so much with the designs?"
"That abomination abortion had better not be our new home shirt."
"Not liking any of those so far."
"Exactly, that home shirt looks fit for a championship team. Just white with some simple navy trim will do, and no more shit collars."

So as you can see, there are STRONG reactions on here, uniformly positive ones regarding those (fake) classic, paired-down kits, and overwhelmingly negative ones regarding the (real) kits. To be fair some people like the new kit, but most don't. Yet everyone-- literally EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER- LOVED those mock-ups. So there's a trend here...

Yes, obviously, I feel strongly on the subject, because it is such a solvable problem- i.e., it is so fucking easy to get a kit "right" (as we've seen), and so unnecessary to get a kit "wrong" (as Tottenham has done yet again). So what I attempted to do was to engage in specifics- to distill what makes a shirt "nice" and what makes a shirt "awful." I tried to list examples, and yet some people on here were claiming that I liked certain teams' kits according to how good the particular team that wears the kit is- a notion I tried to dispel. I then went on to explain what I liked about those teams' kits, and why I rarely like ours. Again, I tried to be specific, since there seemed to be some confusion.

And now you're getting on me for talking about kit design- inside of a thread about our new kits on a Spurs discussion board! Unreal. I mean, where else can/should I discuss this issue? With my wife? Can't- she hates sports. With my son? He's not yet two, so that's out. Why can't I do it on here? What's your problem with what I'm saying- that I repeat myself? To the extent that I do do that, it's because some posters on here don't understand why I feel the way I do. Design happens to be something I take very seriously- it matters to me. As such, I just wanted to talk about what I see as an ongoing problem regarding our kits. Indeed, that's my main contention- that this happens regularly with Spurs, and it really bugs me.

Look, you'll be happy to know that I'm done posting about this issue. Many of the things I said mirror the sentiments of various other posters on here, regardless of whether or not I expressed myself in too heavy-handed a manner.

Anyway, enjoy the shit kit.

Come on mate, get it a rest, it's hurting my scrolling finger. You're entitled to your own opinion and you have posted it... several times. Take a deep breath and move onwards... and upwards. (y)

Would you like to bet money as to whether or not the Asian-girl pic and the tire-track pic is- in fact- our real kit?

If so, how much?

I have a horrible feeling it is... Oh well, at least I won't need to worry about spending money on a shirt this season (I'm yet to buy a UA item)... Maybe a navy training shirt.

Well, you are a committed poster.

I hate the supposed new home kit. But I don't need to make a speech to say it.

And that's fine- I understand that- that works for you. I, however, did feel the need to make speeches (inside of an internet thread on a Spurs forum dealing with this particular subject)- the reason being that I see this latest offering not as being some kind of naff one-off but rather as part of an overall trend- as being "par for the course" as they say.

Imo, Spurs consistently trot out lame-to-awful kits; that, indeed, the good ones are the exceptions. I abhor this; since I find it to be so Goddamn unnecessary. A nice kit is easy to make- hell, one of our guys came up with three beautiful ones- that WE ALL LOVED- inside of five minutes. A shitty top, otoh, actually takes some work.

The whole thing makes me sick, and finally, this year- with this newest, horrid offering- I'd had it.

Anyway, I'm done. Next year around this time I'll save myself the effort and just trot out the eye-rolling smiley.

I disagree, they may not be all that classic, but personally think they are nice. Over the 2 years we have had UA and out of the 6 kits they have made us the only one that I think is "lame-to-awful" is the 3rd kit of the 2012-13 season. All the others I have really liked and think they look good. Different but good.

Doesn't have to be classic to look good.

And to clarify you mean "WE ALL" as in the 20 people that are bothered to post in here....that's a good random polling that validates the quality of the kit.

And to clarify you mean "WE ALL" as in the 20 people that are bothered to post in here....that's a good random polling that validates the quality of the kit.

So you don't think the fact that EVERY ONE of those twenty people that "bothered to post in here" liked the mock-up kit(s) says something?

You think that because it's "unscientific" it's therefore meaningless?

Whatevs bro- I beg to differ.
