....A new West Stand probably is one of the few viable options in the current economic climate, however.

If a new West Stand could be erected within a single season then perhaps stacked Portacabins would suffice for the exec boxholders , or double decker coaches which could be wheeled in and out on matchdays .

Remember when the current West Stand was built and a couple of months after the sewerage leached into the concrete and discoloured it .

This is borrowed from COYS, some slightly different info.....

As always, take or leave as you want, however something interesting regarding stadium plans I thought I'd share

Latest news is that the Industrial Park half way down Northumberland Park, halfway between the High Road and Worcester Ave (behind Paxton Road) has all but been bought up by the club. Planning permission has now been submitted to Haringay Council for two stadium designs with 55,000 and 62,000 capacity. Two have been submitted as funding has yet to be finalised so the club is not sure which option it can afford. Believe the preference is for 62,000 but they're covering their bases.

Apparently the council is desparate to keep us in the area (after various threats to flounce off elsewhere) so may look on the applications favourably as there would be improved links to the North Circ/ M25 and Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale would be nearer. The club and Council are also applying pressure to TFL to extend the tube.

One of the architects responsible for the Deathstar has been employed as poroject manager (think this is general knowledge already)

Once the new stadium is built WHL would be redeveloped into a leisure park/ bars and car parking for the new stadium.

This way we can continue the play at the lane whilst the new one is built in exactly the same way as the filth did with the library. The club has also been busy buying all the property around the ground.

The club is due to make an announcement with plans by the end of April

i think we should totally relocate to taunton (somerset), prices of everything is lower and i could walk to the stadium rather than have the most tedious and infuriating drive known to man...... i mean there are several problems with this but i am the most important person alive so.......

Personally, an ideal location for me would be at the bottom of Lea Valley road (cant think of the road name) you have a new Tescos built there, industrial units, Travis Perkins etc its not to far from the high road. Trains run down the length of Lea Valley Road, would it be that difficult to put a station somewhere along that route?? It would also benefit the large cinema complex?? You could even consider Lea Valley Road itself. Routes in via car would be easier thats for sure, giving possibilities to come via Waltham Abbey turn off>> Chingford>>Nags head road. Enfield A10 Nags Head Rd. Waltham Cross>>Lea Valley Rd, and of course the North Circ, Access via the A12 A13 M11. Parking! wouldnt take much to extend the cinema complex car park, or indeed buy the land next to it and use that as a designated parking area. And of course what with the new training facilities being built, this would be within easy acess to the stadium itself, A10>> Nags Head Rd>> Lea Valley Rd. Congestion, yep there will be some but isnt there always in London, Thats my view anyway, not everyones cup off tea granted, and in a ideal world id say never leave the lane, but this unfortunately is reality, and a move looks the only viable option, the only way a move would work would be to keep the new Stadium in TOTTENHAM, and at the bottom of lea valley road, brings you into Tottenham, so i would look at those areas personally, ive heard rumours off Hertford Enfield etc etc but its not Tottenham is it!!!

Nope. There just isn't the space down there now.

There are already two stations, Northumberland Park and Angel Road, but the local service is shite. There are no buses, other than the service to Tesco's and IKEA. There are no pubs, cafes, etc. And as anyone who's ever used Meridian Way on a regular basis will tell you, it doesn't take much to jam it solid. Car parking would almost certainly be more of a problem than it is now.

A lot of the problems at the Lane stem from the dreadful hash that was made of redevelopments in the 80s (which also contributed substantially to our financial problems). It's absolutely pathetic that the West Stand has a capacity of barely 7,000, the smallest of the four. And that's aside from problems such as the sewage that Striebs mentions. As for the East Stand pillars… The board failed to notice they were on the architects' drawings, a fact which was pointed out to them when they complained about the pillars after the stand was completed.

Joe's stuff from COYS is pretty much in line with what I heard from a local councillor just before Christmas and posted in one of the other stadium threads.

fascinating stuff 57 - our board hasn't excelled re our stadium over the past 20 years or so has it? who can forget the fiasco when the ground wasn't ready for the start of the season - it's horror memories like that that convinced me temporary ground share was a no-no. (it's also a wory for any large scale redevelopment)

keep the lane till the new one's finished and passed its safety certificate

Realistically, its gonna be a fair few years before we see anything resembling movement on this, I cant see us in a new stadium for at least another 3 to 4 years

I'd say that's about right—and it would, just by happenstance, coincide with the 2012 Olymoics.

I still think the tube extension is a non-starter, not least because it's going to be next to impossible to persuade TFL that it's economically viable. If it's going to be used to capacity for just a few hours maybe 30 times a year, tops, it's going to be a white elephant as far as they're concerned. However, I can see a major upgrade to the rail services on the Lea Valley Line in readiness for the Olympics; off-peak trains already go to Stratford rather than Liverpool Street.

I've read a few figures being bounced around before with regards to how much an Victoria Line extension would cost (£40-£50million) are these figures correct or are they just ?

Along with most Spurs supporters I have a superiority complex and an anonymous faceless ground just would not be good enough for us .

Does anyone know if the proposals for new grounds are those common as muck bowls or a rectangular effort with style that gets you as close to the pitch as possible ?

Granted, now they have put speed cameras and traffic lights, down the Lea Valley road between Nags Head roundabout and the roundabout at the bottom going into Meridian Way. But surely there is room between Hub Tubes and the Cinema complex, with regards to pubs etc, im sure a couple off pubs would benefit the Cinema complex also. In fact the area could be turned into a shopping village with pubs and restaurants, even another lane could be implemented down Lea Valley Road. Dont forget the area behind is vast between Lea Valley Road and the Lea Valley Viaduct. Im sure we will be happy with whatever they come up with as long as its in Tottenham, or at least bloody close to it.

If only that were true. take Man City, Maine Road was awesome for atmosphere, then when you stuck the same fans in eastlands the atmosphere was dead.

It can matter, not all the time, but it can.

Last night I went to the Emirates for the first time (I am ashamed in a way as Spurs were not playing  ) I went to watch the Brazil - Sweden match. Try as I may (and trust me I did try) apart from the colours and the obvious logos, I couldnt find anything wrong with it. I will also admit that I was envious as I thought to myself, this should be us. I have to take my hat off to them, they managed to move from Highbury to Ashburton Grove and still manage to bring that "Arsenal" feel as well.

That proved to me as one who didnt want to move from the Lane, that we can still capture the magic and essence of the Spurs if we were relocated as it will be us the fans that will carry it, not the real estate or where it is.

But you were initially talking about the area close to Tesco's, not Pickett's Lock (I assume that's the cinema complex you mean). That's a good two miles away. The idea of a ground there was kicked out of the window once the Commonwealth Games fell through.

Also, it would make no sense for the club to have bought up the land in Tottenham it has already if there were any real intention to move. I've no idea how far we've progressed with acquiring the industrial estate back of N17 Studios, but we've most certainly made enquiries of householders in Worcester Avenue. From what I understand (and this is from a local councillor of very long standing whose word I have no reason to doubt) Plan A is very much the same as Joe swiped from COYS: a 55,000-60,000 capacity stadium north of Paxton Road, with the existing Lane being developed for leisure, housing, shops and offices, all of which would provide a huge economic boost to the area.

The only fly in the ointment I can see is the uncertainty over the economy, but that will merely delay matters.

is it true we don't own Rudolphs? I was under the impression we owned pretty much all of it, except that one unit north of Paxton Lane but i've heard Rudolphs isn't ours either...

Below is what I read a few months ago...
I have been at White Hart Lane today and saw and heard some very interesting things.

Briefly I have my own business which fortunately for me is doing pretty well, well enough in fact that I am considering taking an executive box at the Lane. I made some enquiries and was invited along to the ground today to view the facilities and available boxes.

Firstly I must say how great and helpful the staff were there and they looked after me thoroughly and my tour was very interesting.

First point when crossing from the West stand boxes to the Paxton Road boxes you go through a bar area which I believe is a corporate family bar, i.e.for adults with children. Whilst in this bar area I had to take a call and whilst on the phone I wandered around and eventually landed at the back window, where I saw something very interesting. The back area of Whites and the indoor training area which I believe they use for community football and a couple of other buildings are being demolished. They have a full demolition team on site and the buildings are virtually down already. Interestingly when I enquired what they were replacing it with I was told "nothing", "next season there will only be a marquis there and it will be for corporate hospitality on match days". To which I responded "Ah ha so they are preparing to turn the pitch around then?" Which met with a polite smile and chuckle.

In a good position now so I thought I would pursue a little more

"That guy that owns Rudolph's is the problem, I understand he doesn't want to sell?"

"No, the club now owns that site, a deal was finally done."

"so they are going to turn the pitch round then, when will the complete work start."

"Sir, I honestly don't know but it's safe to say that the club won't be leaving White Hart Lane."

One other point on revisiting the box areas in the West stand I explained that I was disappointed that these boxes were behind glass. I was then told that it is a problem and that this summer the boxes were going to be moved back a few feet into the corridor so that they could put 2 rows of seating in front of the boxes as is the case in the East stand. Everything was agreed and the work was due to take place this summer but recently the "chairman" himself pulled the plug on the work and stopped it going ahead. Mmm vey intersting.

I concluded from that part of my visit that there is absoloutely no doubt that not only is the ground to be turned around but some of the work has already started to take place, I reckon that this will be our last season at the Lane before the major work begins, oh I should add that I was told that the club now owns everything between the ground and the High Road.

One last point from what I have to say was a lovely lady who didn't want to give anything away, when we were looking to agree a deal on a box I asked her if she knew any transfer news?

"I'm afraid not."

"So you don't know about anybody coming in or going out?"

"Afraid not"

"Because you see I don't want to pay 30 odd grand and then find out that Berba's gone!"

"That is the one thing that I can tell you for definite, Berbatov is definitely staying!"

Anyway i thought I would share this information with you guys!
