They might still put something there this week.surprised they haven't put a net of some kind up across the stands to prevent the balls flying out and into the road/school behind.
They might still put something there this week.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but with all the money now coming in to the prem and clubs spending like crazy with our pretty neutral transfer policy does anyone know or understand where this will leave us with finances for the stadium?
I know that sponsorship deals won't be announced for some time but surely we will be in a pretty strong position regardless?
I'm sure there are people out there that understand this a lot more than me.
I suspect that when they start on the work for which they knocked down the corner they'll make access to the North stand stairs from the High road hugging the west stand and along outside the north stand so if you come in from Worcester avenue you'll eventually have to walk right the way round the ground. So will this access way from Worcester Ave to the temp North Stand stairs limit the extent of the new East side build during the season? We've seen project pics showing the new stadium hugging that demolished NE corner by May 2017 but surely the majority of the build will have to stop where the access road is? Or can they leave a 'tunnel' for fans to get through the new build to reach the old North Stand? That seeks unlikely- anyone have an idea?
I see what you mean, but they'll find a workaround, not sure if it'd be a health and safety risk if footballs come flying into the building site.
damn that building is an eyesore
Which pattern are you going to go with today Phil?Has the groundsman dropped an acid before firing up his mower?
I've always had a suspicion that Levy doesn't want spurs to be a top 4 team. At least not yet, it's too early. We only made it last year because all the usual suspects grossly under performed. To be a top 4 team consistently is expensive, it would cost more than the 30 million or so you get for CL qualification, to stay there and maintain it. We all know that "expensive" would go against the grain with Levy. It may change at a later date but that remains to be seen.
EDIT: It seems there are some loons who don't understand the above. Let me put it more clearly. Levy wants top 4 but he doesn't want to pay the price it needs to maintain a top 4 position. Every club wants to be in the top 4, that's obvious, but it's more expensive to stay in top 4 than Levy is prepared to pay.
I realise you are posting in jest, but to be serious, Levy does want CL footie. But, he wants to achieve that with a budget for top 5/6, not a with a budget for top 3/4. And I don't blame him, it's a perfect business model to keep a tight budget suitable for top5/6 and stray into CL once in a while. Because overtaking a steady, long-term top 4 spot overnight costs too much compared to potential revenue. But a top 5 spot with occasional CL footie comes with a far better cost/revenue ratio.
I really find it baffling that there are still people like you who don't understand the simple arithmetic. We are run like a normal business. We can spend what we make in profit, you know, like every normal business in the world (or we can borrow money and pay the fees for that). It's not about wanting or not wanting CL football, why an earth wouldn't Levy want CL football, it earns us more money for a start, raises our marketing profile etc.
But we are competing against 5 other teams who, until our stadium is finished have had enormous financial advantage over us since Levy arrived.
It's as simp as that. Until our revenues match theirs - and even just building a need stadium won't immediately redress that imbalance in all cases - and comply with FFP we can't moan that we are not achieving what we should be, because most seasons in the last 10 we have achieved more than our finances would normally allow.
As above, it's not that he wants to achieve CL football on 6th best budget, it's that our earning capacity dictates that is the criteria with which he/we have to achieve it. Levy can't just choose to increase our revenue, all he can do is everything in his power to maximise it, and considering we have the smallest ground on the top 20 (or 30 even can't remember) richest clubs he's doing a pretty decent job of it.
I'm a fan of the new stadium design and how they've added some great touches to create a quality football stadium, but, seeing the Lane as it is, it's hit me surprisingly hard! Even though we've known for ages what the plans were, seeing the corner ripped down makes it all real. She's gone in May
