No we've got a contract for next season now. Chelsea's still has to go to the Mayor and Sec of State, so they won't be ready by next season.

I wouldn't count against it personally. Maybe this it what has been delaying official confirmation we'll play at Wembley next season.

does anyone have the comparable timetables for spurs v Chelsea design, w planning, planning approved etc for stadium projects. Seems to be approved very quickly.
Its worth remembering we had planning permission a long time ago, since then the scheme has changed several times and we faced several hurdles. They may also run in to issues with CPO's and etc. with relation to the hotel and apartments

Their scheme is much smaller than ours so they are at an advantage, already and not to mention, potentially their open chequebook

Who cares if they get planning permission? Our stadium is going to be open first and will be better than theirs.

Plus their stadium looks like an oversized wigwam anyway.

What's the bet that their capacity ends up at 62,000?

I worked in the LBH&F for about 11 years, including 3 in Fulham. Frankly I am struggling to see how they could get 50,000 away from the ground and properly satisfy H & S. Even with creative walkways, the only tube stations are Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green (both on on the same branch of the District Line) and EarlsCourt. The rest would have to be car or bus/coach or walk. When you compare that to the space and different tube and main lines we have it's ridiculous. How they would get full permission for a 62,000 stadium baffles me ...... unless money does talk all the way up the tree!

EDIT: Just another thought, if Chelsea were refused planning permission and had to move away to build their new stadium, I am fairly sure the values of the surrounding poperties would increase substantially, not to mention the greater satisfaction from not having games throughout 9 months of the year. That alone could raise the prospect of a number legal objections.

So does this mean they'll be after Wembley for next season, and we'll have to divide up the limited number of full capacity games with them?

Might they also be looking for exclusivity by out bidding us?

If they have just achieved a resolution by the committee to grant planning consent, they have a few months of negotiation over a Section 106 Agreement still to wade through, before the planning consent becomes binding. Then they have about a year of detailed design work, several months of tendering and procurement and a few months of mobilisation and site-start-up before they can start demolishing the existing stadium.

Exactly. I think we got planning for our original plans in 2008.

There is a Chelsea thread in general football so we should probably take it there rather than clog up our stadium thread with their rancid stadium chat!

I think their proposed stadium exterior looks shite, thank god we didn't have something like that.

Agree. Yes, it is different and less generic than ours, but different isn't always good.

As I said above, from certain views it just looks like a giant wigwam.

Actually that's what I'm most worried about with ours - because of all those panels we're using - which is a very current trend in new builds in London. I'm worried ours will look dated in 20 years time.
Pretty sure we could change the external cladding in the future if we wanted, I doubt we will but that could address your concerns.
