So what actually happened today? What was shown? I saw the PDF file with the gubbins about the area etc but I was expecting a computerised model of the stadium today.

In that case... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if it HAS to be a bowl, can we have one 'kop' end or something?

Also, were they specific with the mistakes they'd made at the death star?

Chris# - dunno mate, the dude hasn't posted anything further, but depending on how pissed I get tomorrow, I'll try to remember to bring this up when I go and see the exhibition on Sunday

Steve - they launched a new section of the website and opened the exhibition for public consultation. Detailed, snazzy computerised model of the stadium will follow after the first stage of consultation, which the dude reckons should be available in January.

Matty, did they reveal any new details at the exhibition or is it a replication of that pdf file?

That place is still like a library though. It's so far away from the pitch too

Why does that matter? Does the sound stop after 5 meters?

Your whole post seems to start with the assumption that bowl's are bad and then everything is twisted to fit that preconception.

Let's be honest, the atmosphere at the lane is poor a lot of the time. At Highbury it was poor all of the time so why would it be any better at the emirates?

Not been myself yet (I posted something that was written on glory glory by someone who had gone today).

I'm gonna pay it a visit on Sunday and will report back then

I think you have a good point here, just because the stadium will more than likely be a bowl the atmosphere would be better if a behind the goal the area was bigger (higher) than the rest of the ground to form a kop like area. couple that with it also being a cheaper area and it will become a magnet for the singers.

I find it does matter, If the fans are almost on the pitch it creates a far more intimidating atmosphere(not violent intimidating but a pressure cooker atmosphere for away teams). I'm sure though health and safety regulations won't permit this.

Secondly, It's not an assumption, I've had an away season ticket for years and so have gone to many 'bowls' and often those clubs previous grounds and have found first hand that the atmosphere is nowhere near as good. I suppose the examples I picked out may not have been the best approach to use but I still believe the 12th man atmosphere of somewhere like the Dell, which was a ground of so much character, would have pushed Southampton over the line a fair few times.

I'm no acoustics expert but I believe, from first hand experience, that stadiums like the lane hold noise far better than bowls. Of course other variables make a difference, but if you had the choice of playing out the last 10 minutes of a game 1-0 up against say Liverpool at Anfield, with the famous Kop roaring them on from a few yards away from the pitch or away at the city of Manchester with the dreary atmosphere I have experienced every time, with banks of unoccupied seats and most fans miles away from the pitch - even when they do sing it seems to peter out before long what would you pick?

It's things like this which can make a huge difference.

City of Manchester is properly shit.

Which is a pertinent comparison, given KSS did the refit of that and are doing our stadium.

They better have learnt some lessons so they don't fuck up our stadium

In fairness, it was originally made for the commonwealth games I believe.

Great structure, but not a football ground.

True, true, as I say, hopefully as a result they will be more able to know what works and doesn't work, plus we have people in that worked on the emirates, so they too should be able to learn from their mistakes.

They did their best, you can't make a football ground out of an athletics one...

I just submitted my feedback:

Hello,

I would just like to submit some feedback on the exciting new Northumberland Development Project.

As a Spurs fan for over 20 years, a current One Hotspur member, and someone who was born in the borough, I am ecstatic at the plans to deliver the club a stadium that would help to guarantee our position as one of the major clubs in England and Europe. My initial thoughts after examining the initial proposals are as follows.

1. The major feeling amongst fans on Spurs message boards is that the stadium should have a capacity of 61,000, firstly as tribute to the historic double winning side, and latterly as a cheeky riposte to the Emirates stadium (childish I know, but it will still make us fans proud).

2. There should be pride of place outside the main entrance to the new stadium to a statue to Bill Nicholson. I believe that all fans would agree such an honour would be the very least the man deserves, particularly as Bill Nicholson Way may be slightly marginalised in the new layout (I am only assuming this will be so, so pardon me if I am wrong). Perhaps statues of other important figures, such as Danny Blanchflower, and record goalscorer Jimmy Greaves could be made to go outside other significant entrances.

3. Although the Emirates and City of Manchester stadia are impressive buildings, they both have a slightly generic quality, which I am glad to see Daniel Levy has said will not be the case in the architect's brief. I am aware that bowl design is the most probable as it both maximises the space and creates less shadowing on the pitch, but I think it is important that there are defined stands, so that the more vocal supporters who currently reside in the Shelf, and Park Lane are able to maintain their identity, and ensure a vocal home support. Perhaps a Kop, or Holt End like element behind one of the goals could help create and even bigger magnet for vocal home supporters to congregate at.

3. Although the initial plans have laid out the current transport infrastructure, I am still to be convinced that they will be able to handle the increase of 24,000 odd supporters. I understand the club will be making further statements on this, and will be watching closely, but initial ideas that come to mind include; a dedicated shuttle bus service operating from Seven Sisters station, more trains laid on from Liverpool St to WHL station in the immediate time around matches, and expansion of the CPZ around the ground.

4. I believe the aim for a supermarket, new housing, and general regeneration of the surrounding area could do wonderful things the High Road. It is a great project, and I am excited to see the designs.

Yours Faithfully,
Daniel

Completely agree. Especially with the idea of a shuttle bus. Many clubs operate these and I can't see them costing much to run. They could possibly not only go to Seven Sisters, but stations such as Manor House and Finsbury park to not overload one station. It's all speculation but something that we'd be daft not to consider. Why not trial it with WHL soon?

And by the time it's built, next to the statue of Billy Nick will be another of 'Arry!

The thing is, from a corporate perspective the emirates has been a resounding success - and we know what Levy's like.

But they (unfortunately ) have had the on field success to get loads of corporate numpties and glory hunters paying for corporate seats and expensive season tickets... whereas I'm not sure we have...
