If we can't use the name of a stadium sponsor in the CL and maybe NFL then why not just call it White Hart Lane?
By the way, I don't care about anything else because,... they have put my seat in!!!:)(y)

If we call it WHL the stadium will carry that names attachment with it far more than a generic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium name would. I'm guessing this has been done to keep the door open with naming rights that may have been concerned if their name would stick should they fork out to sponsor it.

Far easier to keep their brand at the forefront of people's minds than it is to have to battle it out with such an iconic WHL name

I actually don't think it should be called White Hart Lane. It better serves the memory of White Hart Lane for the new stadium to have a different name. Singing that we're Tottenham from The Lane is obviously still a thing, because that's where we have come from, but I think a new name makes the most sense. And preserves White Hart Lane.

Seems like a place-holder name more than anything. I should know this but did the old stadium have a formal title used by the club?

Anyway, it will still be 'the Lane' as far as I'm concerned. Forever.

Gonna be weird discussing future fixtures. Say we had a European tie and we lost the away leg, we used to say "Don't worry, we'll take them back to the Lane and turn it around"

End of season run-in, a an opposition fan might say "we're in a good position now, but we still have to go to Anfield, Old Trafford and the Lane"

I just don't see "The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium" fitting in these phrases.

"Come. On. You.
Spurs are on their way to Wembley
Tottenham's gonna do it again.
They can't stop em
The boys from Tottenham

The boys from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium"

not sure they have put @Dougal in, perhaps they know his history and thought why bother

also noticed why the test event is on bank hol Monday, well definitely why it's not on the Saturday, Arse play Spam on the Saturday, so there will be a lot of cleansing in the area going on which I'm sure will take over 24hours after the event, and to disperse the caravans:whistle:

Even if we got a naming rights deal the nfl will call it the tottenham hotspur stadium just as they do in the champions league. As you can't have unofficial sponsors for those games.
As I have said on a number of occasions (despite some protestations to the contrary) Daniel Levy has already said that the stadium must be handed over 'clean' to the NFL, much like the Champions League. It strongly suggests it will not have a sponsor name. It's a totally different situation to when a team has a home stadium as this is a stadium which is being leased to the league, not a franchise and therefore other than what we receive from the NFL to use the stadium, they, being a very strong and savvy commercial entity would not permit us or a sponsor to be a third party beneficiary to their use of the ground. An example is that all EE branding is removed from Wembley when the NFL go there.

If we see a sponsor name carried across to the NFL I 100% guarantee the NFL get paid for that and THFC don't see a dime from that element (i.e. we will get our £x per season just the same as if it wasn't used for NFL).

All that in mind, it's clear that 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium' was always going to be a name with frequent usage and as such it's hardly weird to have a brand identity associated with it.

Or, possibly, a clever move:
- “It’ll always be WHL”
- It’s the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
- “Ah, MrLevy, now the continuity of the name has been broken, please can we give you lots of money?”
Kind of like a sorbet to cleanse the palette.
Sneaky move to boost the price?
It's not sneaky! The club were never going to let the new stadium have White Hart Lane associated with it in any official comms to ensure that happens. It's been clear all along and they have been very judicious about it. It's essential to maximise the value of the sponsorship. If it ever got referred to as White Hart Lane or New White Hart Lane by the club that would have damaged the sponsorship value significantly.

Was just thinking that perhaps with the NFL games, the exposure of the Tottenham Hotspur brand to a wider audience is deemed to be worth more than what we were being offered in potential naming rights, and hence have continued without a naming rights sponsor.
