There is an NFL game at Wembley that weekend think that’s why it’s down as a TBC
Yep, if we're not ready for that there's going to be real trouble. At that stage I think the PL would be perfectly justified to conclude that we'd deliberately mislead them with the idea we'd be able to move in to NWHL for September (which we were obviously maintaining until very recently) and consider a points deduction. It's unfair on teams who'll face us at Wembley rather than NWHL and it going to cause the league massive inconvenience.

I’m saying the club has been advised of the completion programme and what the final date has looked like. Whether this advise was taken on board or just met with a persistent block of - just keep going we will get there, is a different story.....
Advised from when though? Prior to the arrangements made for Fulham to be at Wembley and announcing Liverpool as the opening game of the new stadium or after that?

Also, what exactly is the issue at hand? Is it really the critical safety systems or is that just an excuse? Because looking at photos of the stadium, as some have already mentioned, it's a building site. I've never looked at it and thought "ah yeah that should be done by August 27th".

I was all geared up to write a reprise of my rant from a year or two ago about how the construction industry has a culture of relentlessly misrepresenting progress to the client, right up to a few weeks from scheduled completion. And how this was because the on-site project manager is being bullied into guaranteeing targets that cannot be guaranteed, so they make bullshit promises and those promises go up the line of management, leading to a culture of bullshit promises.

Bu then I re-read the wording and tone of the club announcement. I don't think what's happening here is a general lateness of progress on site. The announcement and its suddenness, on the heels of taking up the Wembley option, reads as if something very specific has been encountered on site.

It reads as if a key bit of building or equipment that is on the critical path for obtaining the approvals and sign-offs has been found to be un-approvable and that it has to be rebuilt or reinstalled before the stadium can be licensed for use. That this has been discovered within the last day or two. And that summit meetings failed to find a way to rectify the problem in a time-scale that permits us to open on 15 Sept.

There's a difference between "this whole job is running late", which is what whingers have been saying here for months, and "oh fuck, the fire alarm [or whatever] failed the test and we have to reinstall everything". It reads like the latter to me. I'm guessing. But not from a position of ignorance.

This is what I choose to believe happened.

The club is a PR disaster at the moment, they aren’t covering themselves in glory at all.

First they fleece the fans on the ticket prices without the knowledge that the stadium will be ready. If there was any doubt with the readiness they shouldn’t have raped the fans on the prices. Who the fuck is advising that this is a good idea?

Now they push the stadium back and don’t mention a word about refunds.

Then they have the shittest transfer window without any acknowledgment to the failure to strengthen.

The club is all about money and greed at the moment and they should be careful as 62,000 seats is a lot to fill if the team isn’t doing well.

Or it could be a case or swapping the fixture and also the fixture of man united so that it wouldn’t mean both clubs in Manchester

I don't remember that ever being an option

Back in 2015.

Premier League’s chief executive, Richard Scudamore, has revealed that would be against its regulations. “They’d have to play in the same stadium for the entire year,” he said. “For the integrity of the competition. You can’t have 19 home games with 10 at Milton Keynes and nine at Wembley – completely, completely unfair. That won’t be allowed in our competition.”

Right now I've got to say I don't have any intention of giving the club a penny for a game at Wembley this season. Let alone the £40+ they charge for even mediocre fixtures. I hope other people feel the same. The Dwarf has stopped listening and need to get a reminded in the only language he comprehends.

It's only because I want to go on the piss with my mate on Saturday that we're going.

Communication throughout the whole process has been appauling.

How long were they planning on keeping us in the dark for, if it wasn't for the leak to The Sun today?...

I bet the club will be extremely quick in communicating to us when the club shop opens, though...

I think that it's already announced we'll be not playing City at NWHL but everyone has read it as its tbc where it'll be played as opposed to we don't know where it'll be played as Wembley is booked up. Not sure what point of having them in that list otherwise, its not exactly going to be easier for fans to swallow just because they put venue tbc in a short message.

I'm fully expecting it to be Chelsea now at earliest, 24th November I believe which is quite the wait considering I paid to see us play Fulham there in a few days.

Yeah, so City are inconvenienced, the City fans who've already booked travel to London are inconvenienced, the United fans who've booked flights to Britain are inconvenienced. It may well happen but would be an absolute pisstake. If it was anyone other than Spurs I'd be saying that's a three-point deduction all night long.

Gutted but tbh it doesn't really surprise me. Feel sorry for the season ticket holders who have paid a small fortune. I personally found last season really difficult as we didn't have our own home.

Or everything was fine and they were still on schedule until something critical happened today.

Yeah that makes sense, no point in a boycott if you've already brought the ticket. But for the other games? The view is better on the telly, the atmosphere is better at the pub, and I could go on a BIG sesh with the amount they'd charge me for a ticket. Fuck it. What's the point?
