Jim Shite on TalkShite will be talking Spurs at 10.45am. He has a 'stadium update'. Stay tuned for the earth shattering exclusive. About 10-15 minutes of learning nothing new.

It's actually very illuminating. The most interesting part is where he confirms that the safety system for the new stadium was installed and tested 18 months ago....

https://talksport.com/football/4138...adium-news-spurs-green-light-update-due-soon/

Jim White announced on talkSPORT: “Apart from one aspect of the project everything is complete.

“The sliding pitch has been tested, and it’s complete. They’re all good with the roof, the seats, the museum is ready, offices are brand spanking new, ready to be occupied. Everything is there and ready but last Monday the 13th of the month, proved to be unlucky for the club.

“A contractor’s report showed a problem with critical safety systems. This involves the ability to evacuate the building safely, the PA system, and the fire alarm system, which has to be working, but there were a number of unexpected installation errors when it was tested.

“And I stress, that was only discovered last Monday, not before.

“So Tottenham made provisions with extra games at Wembley and this morning I am told that although they are within touching distance of announcing it, the club still cannot say, hand on heart, when the first game inside the new stadium will actually be.

“The club is devastated by the news but, of course, that system has got to work. It’s as simple as that, without one, let alone a few, installation errors. It cannot work without being absolutely fool proof.

“I have to stress this was totally unexpected to the football club. The testing for this work was completed a long time ago, 18 months ago, but clearly, according to Tottenham, the workmanship in this area has not been good enough. It has let them down. The club feels let down as a result and is totally reliant on the contractors sorting it out.”

18 months ago would be before the final game at WHL. That seems pretty unlikely doesn't it?

I've just listened to the clip of Jim white talking about the stadium. Hilarious, they clearly haven't done their research on their source. If you took him for his word you would assume that the stadium and all surrounding developments are completely finished and we would be playing their now if it wasn't for some faulty safety systems.

That was the reason the FA failed it was it not?

Yeah because that what I meant.
You guys who have never worked on a building site would be shocked at conditions at most sites

due to lack of bogs, have you been pissing on the fire wire, while wearing your new shorts paid by our dear leader?

That’s not what I was getting at. Jim painted a picture that the stadium was finished and had it not been for the faulty systems then it would be complete right now. He said everything else was finished, when you only have to take a look at the latest pics and videos to see that is not the case.

The recording is on this link, assuming they haven’t removed the parts I’m referring to.

I actually prefer east stand entrance to west stand think it looks more classy. I like the west stand but does look like they were on Acid when they designed it.

Question, who's responsible for site welfare the club or MACE?

When the MACE guy stated
“Issues with critical safety systems were identified. This is linked to the fire detection contractor encountering higher than usual electrical wiring faults.”

EDIT: Sorry @dondo this part wasn't aimed at you.
Assuming it's not pikeys nicking the copper out of cables, could it be that the wiring went out of spec? (I remember someone saying prior to Grenfell it would have passed (in their opinion anyway) or would he have said it was a specification/regulation issue in his statement rather than electrical wiring faults?

I'm hoping it doesn't look like it sticks out as much as it does now when the cladding is on

He said the hotel was built. Not the most sober of views.

Can only presume that he got this mixed up with the player lodge. But yeah everything he says is vague and pretty obvious., Unless you believe that the 'critical failure' was some sort of conspiracy, an excuse to cover up the delays in the build. I wish that was so as I don't like the sound of a pesky wiring issue. The actual work that visibly needs to be done is the cladding which is largely cosmetic and we have seen it go up pretty quick before.

Given Whites involvement and connections in the game, I'm sure he heard this from someone at the club. But he clearly knows nothing about the build personally and has made a bit of a mess at explaining it to people.

Imagine if they’d opened the stadium and played the game and then it was found out there was a problem with the safety systems? The amount of shit the club would get would be massive. If there was problems then I’m glad they didn’t open it. I’d much rather be sitting in my new seat knowing if there was an emergency/accident that there were proper safeguards in place to protect us fans at the games than not being there.

The point you raise is the whole purpose of the Safety Certificate, you can't play matches without the Safety Cert. being issued. So they test it rigorously, and the regs. may have been changed in the light of Grenfell Tower.

It's now as important for the Club to rebuild bridges with the fans as it is to build the stadium, IMO.

When you think back to the Finale at the Lane, the feeling between the Club and the fans that season was probably the best it's been for many years. Obviously some of that was linked to the results and the fact we were unbeaten but unfortunately a lot of that goodwill has been lost now so they must start rebuilding it.

I can't wait to get in the new stadium and it will hopefully mark a new chapter of us feeling more connected to everything again.

There is no bridge building needed on my behalf as I was of the opinion that the opening date was not going to be met.
What I would like is for it to be opened when it is mostly finished I can't wait as I think my great expectations are going to be met and there is no way am I going to slag Levy or the club for a delay I expected to happen. COYS
