The cynic in me would say that it may have been a gambit in terms of getting permission from the PL to play in two different stadiums. If that had been framed as playing the first half at Wembley and the second half in WHL it might not have gone down very well. But an initial target of this full season, then delayed until the Liverpool game probably looks easier to stomach and get a vote on.Ok so give me a good reason why the club would lie about the opening going as far as to arrange test events and doing safety tests?
Did they sabotage the fire alarm systems on purpose to get out of opening?
Once the safety systems get flagged as being incorrect then it looks like the delay is not our fault per se and that vote to play in both stadiums shouldn't be taken back. That's a total guess - and a very cynical one - but could be a possible reason.
The most likely explanation is that it's a bit of everything; an ambitious deadline, slow work progress, the safety systems, PR and some financial quick-stepping. But fans will make up their own minds regardless - likely based on their existing attitude towards ENIC - so it's a fairly moot point.
