WAS

FOJ has a point. Yes it's a little bit of poetic license and writing new history but our iconic part of the ground WAS 'The Shelf'

This area has quite clearly been removed from the NWHL and I would imagine 80% of the old shelf supporters?? have relocated to the park lane

We could call it the new shelf side....

Why not call it the Park Lane Shelf?

It's complete guesswork to say the football side will be affected; the players & coaching staff know we're moving in as soon as possible so will deal with it.

But the fact we've got games against Palace, Brighton, Huddersfield, West Ham and Everton will likely be attractive to the players/staff.
Say we leave it til next season and start City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United as first 4 home games? Would that be preferable? I'd say no.

We could drop points against any of the 5 sides we're still to play but if it wasn't for late goals recently, we'd have dropped points against Burnley and Newcastle so it's too simple to say the ground is a major factor.
Much more of a valid reason is playing against a packed, deep defence but we've faced this for a couple of years now, at WHL and Wembley. And we will at NWHL.

the pitch will be the same size as Wembley I believe and Newcastle's defence was pretty well packed as well as a few others we have played this season. the only difference being they won't of had 17,500 angry supporters (or happy depending on what side of the bed they got out of) sitting near enough on their shoulders:whistle:

sorry misread it as not playing against

So it sounds like our single stand will be referred to as the kop by a lot of people. I really hope people can get in the habit of calling it the Park Lane. Maybe even the Park Lane Kop will do. I'm not sure if I'm alone but I dont want it to share the same reference as Liverpool or anyone else. I know kop is a generic term for a single tier stand but ours is our own and deserves its own label.

I'm with you. Somehow, 'Kop' needs to be erased from our references to it. White Wall was even better than that.

I'm with @mil1lion , go with Park Lane or something. I guess The Shelf wouldn't work, seeing as it's not really a shelf.

I've spent most of the season moving work trips and social events around a potential first game at the new ground at a substantial cost to myself. All the while being drip fed refunds, information and being offered the opportunity to pay cat A prices for Liverpool or cat B against Southampton. Perish the thought I might be a bit hacked off at the situation. I'd like nothing more than to support the club but there comes a point where one has to make a stand.

but even if we had been in the new stadium you would of had to spend time re-arranging those things, and as we have been given plenty of notice on most then why arrange so many events for Spurs fixture dates if you have paid so much money.

and how did you expect them to refund you. they can only refund you once they know they can't play a game at the new stadium.

you have already admitted in one of your 1st post that you haven't been to Wembley this season, because you don't want to give Levy a penny

Re the ticket refunds, given that the club has been charging by the category, the club should be refunding by the category too. Being refunded £52 but then asked to pay £70 is pretty shit, especially if it falls in a tight month financially, which most of us tend to have from time to time.

Re when we move in, sooner the better. I’m going to Wembley still, but it’s not much fun watching with no atmosphere, it feels like a friendly or something most of the time, and I’m sure that affects the team.

because a ST isn't categorised per match. they only do that to members. a category C for a member will be in the £55 range, Cat B £65, and Cat A will be around the £70-£75. as a ST holder you receive a discount and a guaranteed seat

You say that but the new signings we had last summer & this January have never played at WHL, oh wait a minute.....:cautious:

Davinson Sánchez, Lucas Moura, Serge Aurier, Fernando Llorente, , Juan Foyth, & Paulo Gazzaniga hasn't played there(y)

Edit: Llorente might of for Swansea, and I doubt he will play there in a Spurs shirt

I don’t know the logistics but I’d presume if palace or Brighton is rearranged to an evening game it rules them out. So in reality it just leaves Huddersfield. Would they really want to open it against Huddersfield, maybe I guess. But West Ham is definitely a NO and pretty pointless/embarrassing doing Everton last game. Although I guess Everton would still have its uses as in ST sales for next season and just breaking the ice before next season. But personally I think Brighton on the Saturday is the cut off.

not the case if both teams get through to the next round they will have to be re-arranged for a midweek match after the Huddersfield game due to CL fixtures. I do believe even if we are knocked out we can't play on a night when other CL fixtures are being played

How historically are you going? I've been going over fifty years and it's alway been the Park Lane in that time. With a little help from our friends in the shelf of course.
Personally I still think we should call it the white wall then we could be the white wallkers!(y)

when I used to go in the 70's and 80's the shelf was the place to be. if any team started trouble they always tried to take the shelf, though when the enclosure was moved to the middle it didn't go down to well:cautious:

Logically yes the above is correct but we simply don’t know these things as they’ve never released the GA ticket prices. It’s what caused a fuss 10 months ago now as we bought season tickets for values of money that we had no idea how they compared to 19 x the GA price.

The club would be the main ones missing out. How many would take the refund on tottenham v arsenal, compared to tottenham v huddersfield?

Well there is a giant chicken on top of it. How about the Koop. The Roost?

The north stand is the Paxton, the East is the Shelf and the wall is the Park Lane. As for the West Stand call it the High Road for all I care. Sorted.

As Paxton Road is no more I can foresee the name drifting into obscurity.
We’re the Sainsbury...

And yet it was the park lane when I went, they had to pass the shelf to get there mind you. Either way I reckon we'll end up keeping the same names.

Well Paxton still exists technically. Don’t the club refer to the space between Lilywhite House and the Stadium as Paxton something or the other?
