I'm still skeptical about Nike having naming rights, it doesn't do anything for them, their branding would have been all over the stadium regardless.
I thought a while back there were rumours of multiple stadium sponsors - each with their own piece of the stadium. Nike as one of those sponsors makes sense - the club store doubles as a Nike store, and will get some PR out of being the largest club store in Europe.

Nike would be huge but seems strange to me why they would associate so closely with one club. If the emirates was called Nike I’d never buy Nike gear again. But if it was Nike there’s no way they’d want to be associated with a club struggling to make top 4. I’d imagine they’d have info there are big things in pipeline like a buyout.

Personally, I think it will be referred to by fans as 'The New Stadium'. To our visitors from Spain, El Nuevo Estadio and our friends from Italy, Il Nuovo Stadio. Our German brothers will proclaim that they are off to see 'Das Neue Stadion' and our compatriots from across the channel, 'Le Nouveau Stade'.

You get my point.

I'm sure they can deal with a small section of a fan base refusing to buy Nike products as opposed to millions of $$ of exposure.

It's not like they need exposure though. It's the biggest sports brand on the planet. They're much more well known than Tottenham Hotspur.

It is interesting to see more English clubs moving away from the Nike kits so may be something to it. Nike also sponsored their first E gaming player recently too. I could maybe see some Nike sponsored E gaming events at the stadium in the future. If it's big money as I'm sure it will be then it can only be a good thing.

Nike don't need exposure by agreeing to design kits for us but they still agreed to it.

This is how big companies work, try and monopolise the market as much as possible, even if this move allow them to sell more merchandise, as long as they are turning a profit whilst gaining exposure whether small or big then it's worth it.

Plus we've built the best and most unique stadium in Europe and have partnered with the NFL which I think is a massive influence no doubt.

Do you not fly with Emirates then?

I quite like it, if it’s true.

So much better than Etihad or Emirates or whatever.

But what about the denial?

Anyway most of us old gits will still call it White Hart Lane come what may. It’s the next generations that will change it.

I’m still skeptical of whether Nike would make this kind of deal, but it does make sense for a number of reasons - PL base for them, NFL tie-up, possible esport and FIFA tournament base in London. Would be slightly hilarious if Keys did prove to be right.

Sponsorship, shmonsorship... it'll be the Lane to us and that's all that matters.
True. When Mike Ashley tried to stick his Sports Direct company's name onto St James's Park, I kept calling it St James's, so there's no way I'll call our new stadium by a corporate name. It'll be either Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or The Lane to me.

Making kits is their actual business.

Normally stadiums are sponsored by companies that want exposure, or to change public perception of their brand. I don't see that being the case for Nike at all. And I do think it odd that Nike would tie themselves to one club so specifically.

I really hope it's true though. I am so fucking here for the ltd edition Spurs Air Max 1s.
