Article about the Defoe transfer. 2nd last paragraph mentions that MLSE have offered to help with our new stadium.

Let the speculation begin.
My friend at Toronto has been sent to Qatar for 2 weeks (Aspire Academy thing with some other clubs), but when he gets back, I'll see if he knows anything about it. MLSE is huge, but it would be very interesting to see them venture outside of Toronto. They seem to have built everything with the same contractors, PCL. Here is a look at their projects. I am wondering if this is where the "help" would come from.

The contract is meant to go out soon for tender. McLaren joint with FCC are favourites to win it.

I'd think the help might be more with financing, whether that is naming rights or introducing. We have the merchandising as part of the Defoe deal. Although it could simply be advice, but I'd have thought Enic would have enough experience themselves on construction projects.

All speculation, we'll have to wait and see.

I suspect it's naming rights more than financing, if there is one thing that ENIC/Tavistock know, it's money.

Meeting tonight (20th January) of Harringay Council 'Northumberland Park & White Hart Lane Area Forum and Committee'

All about the areas around the stadium - but IMO there are likely to be interesting snippets concerning the Stadium Approach, transport enhancements and other stuff. Not sure we'll get much more on the stadium itself - unless it slips out by accident !

Barca are going to increase their stadium by an extra 6000 capacity for £495m! :greedy:

Let's hope Levy can work his magic and get a 61,000 seater stadium for 350m sponsored by Holsten!!

Is there even any ITK on this atm?

Literally nothing on the stadium since October and nothing from the club on the subject for two whole years

There have been a few scraps of info from the club in the last year..........although some of it might have been deliberately misleading and the rest might not really constitute info!

The club did comment, when pressed, on the leaked story about the new Populous design and possible NFL deal - claiming that there would be minor interior alterations to the design but that things would otherwise proceed as previously planned, with a tendering process in the immediate offing and work expected to begin by the end of the year. However, that could have been a brazen lie - stalling for time until an NFL deal is signed and / or until the new design is ready to be made public.

Daniel Levy did also mention the stadium in his chairman's report last January. There was nothing by way of real news there, though, other than giving some idea as to the level of finish to which Spurs aspire: "We intend to deliver this to the same high standards of the new training centre..."

As to the itk, all the latest stuff (other than the occasional snippet about the Archway Sheet metal CPO) has been about the potential Populous design.

First and foremost, two emails from David Keirle to a poster on skyscrapercity which first revealed that Populous are now working on a design and subsequently revealed that they are working on a proposal for a joint Spurs / NFL 65K stadium, potentially with a sliding pitch.

Edmonton, who has apparently been consistently accurate about the stadium on COYS, added to that a few days later by confirming what Keirle had written and claiming that the new design was for a stadium that will be 15 metres higher than the KSS design.

Only other bit of recent ITK I can think of was a couple of tweets by Lord Ashcroft (still a THFC shareholder, I think). First one said, "Very scrappy match at Spurs but enjoyed hearing about the impressive plans for a new stadium". When asked to elaborate, he simply pointed out that the story was already in the media (referring to the Populous story and possible NFL connection).

That's about it in a nutshell.

I'd say that the silence since the Populous / NFL story broke back in late October is significant. Suggests to me that there is definitely something in it but that it might be sensitive info and still far from guaranteed to happen.

We have our interim report coming up soon so I doubt you'd hear anything before hand (maybe a few rumours).

i know everything that's come out but there's literally been nothing in the way of ITK or news for ages now.

I bet all the meetings happen behind this door.

Infact it wouldn't surprise me if it was built with Levy's own hands.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, said: "We are delighted to see Sainsbury's open their new Tottenham store today. This store is one of the largest supermarkets of its kind in London, and represents the completion of the first part of our new stadium scheme and the start of the regeneration of north Tottenham

If we accept that the mooted changes to the stadium design consist, as the club stated, of internal re-planning, then the development team is probably stuck into the mountain of work associated with turning a planning-consent scheme into a fully detailed design, suitable for issuing to contractors for tendering. Even if it is a design-and-build contract (which I expect it will be), it still takes months for multiple consultants to get all of the drawings and specifications ready to issue a tender invitation for a development of this magnitude.

Then the tendering period is likely to be about a month. Then the cost consultants have to digest the tenders and report back recommending which tender should be accepted - that's another few weeks. Then the club has to decide whether to accept the recommendation. Then there will be amendments and (probably) negotiations with the contractors to reduce the cost by amending the specification - that could be a fortnight, or, if the tenders are much too high, it could take a couple of months. Then the contract gets awarded. Then, assuming that financing is in place, we get an announcement.

In the meantime, there's nothing to report except 'we're still working', so why do people expect the club to issue another statement every few weeks/months?
