I rarely comment on "negative ratings". People can say what they like (that's the title of one of my songs ;)) and I'm opinionated enough that I generally have to take the "dislikes" with the "likes".

But some people plainly do not really "get" the ratings function. As in: disliking a post because they do not like the facts contained in it.

We call those people "arseholes", "fuckwits" and "idiots". And then we make a point of being very, very rude to them in the future. I have made a note.

A "dislike" rating is not going to have any effect on the struggle that THFC is likely to have to convince the historic-buildings people to let them remove three buildings in order to increase our stadium capacity. It just makes the SC member who issued the rating look like a shithead.

I disliked your post because you disliked a post of mine (which was a joke). But given you didn't feel the need to post in the thread in question and instead just decided to dislike mine and others this was a petty dislike in retaliation . I very rarely use the non positive ratings. If I don't agree with someone I normally ignore it or at least engage in some way, I do not like to use the neg reps as it only tends to lead to this sort of thing and it's just not pleasant. I respect you DM but I really have an issue with people disliking posts in threads where they haven't themselves contributed.

I notice people commenting on your use of the rating system is mentioned by several posters on your profile page.

I didn't realise that was the case, surely neg repping multiple members and not engaging in the thread to justify them is also frowned upon? Anyway apologies happy to remove the rating...... But presumably this would also be considered member abuse:

We call those people "arseholes", "fuckwits" and "idiots".

EDIT: Also where are the rules for the rep system? A glance over the rules in the help section does not seem to mention it at all.

Just forget it. If someone dislikes your post ignore it or ask them why. If you start negging theirs out of petty revenge they do the same and everyone just gets the hump.

im not a fan of the repping with out posting (but have done it myself) but we cant force people to post. The rating system is there to give people the chance to show their view with out posting i guess.

Have you got a link to the post that that is in?
Not sure we have a list of rules set out, but we have had enough problems from other (past) members who just went around neg repping because they got 1.

I was certainly not going to start neg repping multiple posts I felt it was justified though..... I've never given an issue on this forum so a little disappointed about the watch it rating as well, particularly as no rules seem to exist to be broken.

The bit about fuckwits? etc

I never use retaliatory ratings

I rate every post as I read it, regardless of who posted it and irrespective of previous interaction. That includes positive ratings for posts by people whom I dislike, but who have posted comments that I agree with.

You may well respect me, in which case many thanks. But I can't return the compliment. Not until you grow up.

EDIT: I have edited my previous post and this post on moderator advice. Thanks, Chris.

That's it Dave, rise above it.

Because essentially calling someone an arsehole, infantile, a fuckwit, an idiot, pathetic, and needing to grow up is any better?

And in case you ask, no I don't think 'essentially' is the operative word here.

I think your response is equally pathetic. Quite rude for no particular reason IMO.

I take Chris' point and have edited my earlier posts accordingly.

I still think using the ratings system in a retaliatory manner is pathetic and, as I gather from Chris' comments, it is also not acceptable here.

I could understand your annoyance at the possibility of someone 'neg rating' statements of fact simply because they disliked it, but phantom's explanation doesn't fall into that category (even if it is against the rules).

Plus that's the first 'neg rating' phantom has ever received on here. Probably just wrecked his chances of winning some sort of record.

Anyway, I've deleted my post quoting your pre-edited comment.

I believe the concrete starts going in next month.

I'm confused again then as i thought we were building a basement with underground parking, that hole doesn't look deep enough to me.

Also just out of curiosity because it's bound to happen because this is Spurs after all, what happens when the old lane comes down and the diggers go in and uncover the remains of Lord Lucan riding Shergar or some Roman or dinosaur ruins or a WW2 bomb that some archaeologists want to spend months clawing over with their size 2 paint brushes and we have a firm deadline we need to be finished by?
Do we just sweep the stuff under a rug and pretend nobody has seen anything?
