Went to the exhibition today, quite interesting and they seemed a lot more clued up and able to answer questions than the last one.

The full planning document will be made in the summer. Assuming it is granted the first stage of the development should be finished by 2012 and the full stadium completed by 2013. The hotel, housing etc will be done shortly after that, with the project complete by 2014.

The capacity of 58,237 is not fixed in stone. It was reduced from 60k to enable the stands to be closer to the pitch than the death star and there was a fear that it would be even more perceived to therefore be a copy. I did ask for them to look again at having the stands 1.75 times further away from the pitch than they currently are and I also asked them to make the lower tier steeper to add to the atmosphere.

Funding is not yet in place but is likely to be a mixture of bank loans (perhaps secured against future ticket sales), share issue, naming rights and via property.

The supermarket will be leased, most likely to Sainsburys, to provide an ongoing source of income to the club. They are already in discussions with housing associations with regards to the houses/flats.

The stadium will have facilities for 300-400 conference attendees and they aim to use this a lot more than currently to generate more income. This was part of the reasoning to build a hotel, as none currently exists in Tottenham, though I suspect it was also to smooth the planning process.

I told them the hotel pictures look like shit and they should redesign it as it will age quickly and become an eye sore. Apparently the design has already moved on compared to what has been published.

The club will actively manage the open spaces to prevent them from being over-run by gangs etc. Also the astroturf in the public spaces, which I said I thought was a mistake as it would quickly fall into disrepair, has already been removed.

Season ticket holders will be written to asking them where they want to sit in the new stadium and whether they want to sit next to people they already sit next to. There will be a season of disruption in terms of where people sit until they finish the whole stadium, but it will settle down after that. Away fans will be in the north east of the stadium and will be approximately 3,000 in number (5% minimum is required for away fans).

No discussions have been had with potential sponsors for naming rights.

Staff car parking will be at street level under the stadium structure.

The cockerels will 100% be on the roof of the new stadium. The original, which currently sits in the West Stand reception, will probably go in the museum, but the existing East & West Stand ones will be moved onto the new stadium.

The club are thinking of having either a wall of legends or a hollywood style walk of fame.

It should be obvious from the pictures, but a couple of significant bits of our history will be lost in the project. Bill Nicholson way will cease to exist. The Red House, where Board meetings were held in the early days, will be demolished, as will Valentinos (okay, no great loss itself, but if my memory of our history is correct we bought the land for WHL from Charringtons which had a pub on the site of Valentinos and there has been a pub there ever since).

That's all I can remember now, if anything else comes up I'll post it. Sorry for the long post, but as you can probably tell we had a good long chat when we were up there.

Cheers fella, great work!

One question you may be able to answer concerns the number of jumbrotrons in the new stadium? I seem to remember reading an interview with the chief stadium architect (think it was on the Tottenham website) that there would be 4 screens, one in each corner. I just wondered whether this was still the case?

I don't quite understand what you mean. Did you ask them to move the seats further from the pitch?

Ah yeah, forgot about that bit f the conversation!

There will be two jumbotrons, in the north east corner and the south west corner. At 18 x 9 metres, they will be the largest jumbtrons in the world.

I think they are located there to ensure that everyone has a clear view of the pitch and so that everyone will be able to see everyone.

Sorry, so much info in my head that my brain was moving quicker than I could type.

I said to the guy that, whilst I appreciated the efforts they had made at making the stands closer to the pitch than Wembley, Death Star etc, 8.2 metres or whatever it is was still too far away and roughly double compared to now.

Apparently the rules and regulations for new stadium are different from those for existing stadia and there are more coming in over the next few years which the club will have to adhere to.

He said that feedback on this was still important as it may cause them to look at it again to see if there is any way they can make it closer, so naturally on my comments card I requested steeper stands and for them to be closer to the pitch.

Oh yeah, transport.

There's no desire by TfL to extend the Vic Line to Northumberland Park. It would cost in the region of £80m to do so (strange the original project was costed at £40-60m).

They are in discussions to ensure that all overground trains will be eight carriages and they are also discussing co-ordinating train times with when the game finishes (e.g. holding trains in stations until after the final whistle) so that trains will not leave the area virtually empty.

Also the Vic Line engineering works will be completed and should increase the frequency of trains and the bus diversions on match days will no longer operate.

Great stuff, Matty P. It's good to have some proper insight into the progress of this, as the new stadium is undoubtedly the most important thing to happen to the club in years and will give us our most realistic chance of breaking into the top four.

The transport issue is something that they could already be improving. Trains should pretty much line up one after another at WHL and Northumberland Park stations after matches. The extension to the Victoria Line was always unlikely as this service would only be used to any degree on match days.

In which case it needn't be integrated into the network, it could be a simple shuttle, the line is pretty much there with the sidings anyway.
As long as people could get on and off safely it should be perfectly possible.

imagine them bragging rights - "so, WE had a station named after us!", "And? We had a whole line named after us!"

Equally, if it was a shuttle service, with dedicated trains, couldn't we get them painted up in club liveries and name each one after a legend?

Based on the information from Matty we are 1.75 times closer at WHL than the new stadium, because of regulations for new stadia.

They will be small, but still visable.

Not sure on the jumbotrons, although Matty said they will be the biggest in the world (think he means for football, because the one at the skydome was enormous)

Aren't our screens (or "jumbotron" as consumers may like to call them  ) pretty huge anyways? From what i'm told, and to be honest i've not actually noticed, our current screens are enormous compared to what is common around the country

We'll be 8.2 metres away from the goal line at the new stadium, which the dude said was about 1.75 times further away than WHL.

On the jumbotrons, well I've done a bit of research and they will apparently be the biggest in Europe, rather than the world, although maybe they will be the biggest in world football.

Not sure of the size of the current ones to be honest and a quick google hasn't shed any light.

Our jumbotrons were originally the biggest in Europe.

We were also the first club in the world to have two jumbotrons. One at each end.
