Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy told the BBC: "I haven't heard anything official but if this is right I think it is obviously the right decision.

"Their (West Ham's) bid in the end was for all London - and Londoners will be paying for this until 2017. Spurs' bid was for just one club.

"I hope we can get back to the White Hart Lane development which got planning permission just three months ago, for a brand new stadium with a capacity up to 56,000."

If we've got 35,000 on the paid season ticket waiting list I'm not sure 56,000 is enough anymore, perhaps a new planning application is in the pipeline for a higher capacity.

56,000 is plenty in reality. How many of the 35,000 on the waiting list will actually buy a season ticket? How many of them will make every single game?

It's worth getting the membership and being on the waiting list (to get tickets before they go on general sale) but I dunno how many would actually buy a season ticket.

I wouldn't be able to buy one right now, but I'm hoping my circumstances will have changed by the time we get the new stadium (please please please, NDP!)

Where is that figure from? I thought we had 20,000 people on the waiting list.

Levy has made it perfectly clear, it is a matter of public record the NPD is not going to happen.

The club is quoting 35,000 although from what whitelightwhiteheat is saying that may be membership only rather than an ST waiting list, mind you I thought that was closed now.

Levy has made it perfectly clear, it is a matter of public record the NPD is not going to happen.

He also said Stratford 'was keeping his options open' and we were still pressing ahead with the NPD (even though he said just last week that hasn't been viable for some time), not sure his words mean that much.

I'd also be interested to know how many of those 35,000 are actually on it waiting for a season ticket. How many just pay the extra 5 quid each year to get a priority day for home league tickets?

The good thing about a stadium of this size is the club could potentially offer tickets at a slightly cheaper rate, ensuring football is still accessible to the average man on the the street, and maybe his kids too.

These days it's kind of impossible for a father (or mother, I guess) to take their kids to a game. This would be an issue for me as I have two sons aged 5 and 3, at some point they're gonna want me to take them to a game.

This will not happen if Tottenham win the bid, they barely reduce the ticket prices for cup games, supply and demand dictates prices, this is why Spammers can do kids for a quid.

do your sons already like football?? I only ask because my boy is 4 but hasn't shown any interest in watching football. Thought (hoped) it was due to his age. I know everyone is different but I want to indoctrinate him asap. Living in hackney he could go either way if I don't intervene. Where did I leave my beating stick and whipping belt...

Both of mine love it! The younger one (the 3 year old) even more than the older one! Not sure how I did it, but I always had a mini-football in the house for them and have had a kickabout with them in the house as much as possible.

I've even got them brainwashed the Spurs way! I've got some excellent videos of them singing "oh when the Spurs" and "Yid Army! Yid Army! Yid Army!"

The older one asks me regularly if I will take him to a Spurs game, especially when we sit down to watch MOTD on a Sunday morning. That's when I usually get asked.

There's no way my missus would let me take him yet, it's a good 4 hours (maybe a little more than that even) trip to WHL for us so it would be a long day for him. As soon as he's old enough I'd like to think I'll be able to take him though.

You don't want to leave it to chance that he could stray into enemy territory though! Not sure what you could do though, I take it you've tried the obvious things, playing football with him, buying him a Spurs shirt, etc? I got my kids a shirt each for Christmas, they love to wear their's whenever I have mine on!

Apart from that I'm not sure. I remember when I was a kid I didn't really get into football until I was 6 or 7, so no need to panic yet! Just make sure they stay on the path of righteousness when the time comes!
