billy white:
Not to disrespect Ed's info, but NFL is a no-go; they've gone with Wembley. Not for a franchise (yet), but just for the international games. Franchise is still a ways away from being tangible is what I've heard.
This was what I was alluding to earlier, but had heard only good noises until yesterday, when I heard that they had decided to go with Wembley.
Reasoning was that they didn't want to be seen as having a particular relationship with one team, especially in a league where some NFL owners also own teams.
Sorry to bear bad news, but just heard and thought I would pass along.

This makes complete sense. I'm well up for NFL but if they played games at the Emirates I'd struggle to like the team or even want to go in advance of a franchise.
TBH if the franchise was to go on and the whispers and comments seemed it was, it would have to be at a club stadium.

Ours, Olympic stadium or Chelsea's new gaffe would be the only club stadiums prepared for it tbh

The poster on The Fighting Cock seems pretty well regarded there, so hope its true and not a wind up.

I'm not a lawyer, and had hoped that one of that bretherin would have commented, but this is my take on it.

Although the poster says its an appeal against the CPO, the detail given does not support that - but it does support an appeal against the level of compensation being offered, and logically I'd have thought Archway would have only appealed against the leve of compensation if it had lost the first round of a lega;l appeal against the issuing of the CPO itself. To appeal that means going to the Court of Human Rights as I understand it - and that would be another six figure punt in terms of legal fees., so not one to undertake unless the case looks robust, and even with my rose tinted specs on I'd suggest that one company objecting to the 'public interest' of renovating/regenerating the whole of Tottenham was a lost caise.

Problem is that court cases are not always published until maybe 3 months after the case is heard, so it could be difficult to check. However the fact that the poster states the level of compensation and costs suggests that the judgement is closer to publication.than the case having just being heard.

The level of compensation is almost certainly 'appealable' but the it looks as if Archway have lost on the argument that a move would injure its business (almost certainly as 500 White Hart Lane was offered, so nearby that the business would not be affected) and that because the business was operating from a small site that it could not argue that the CPO would affect itrs expansion, So the compensation is being calculated on the market value of land, removal costs etc. If I were Levy I'd organise a verbal offer of another quarter or half million if they stop all appeals and go quietly. A good deal for both sides to kill the case and let us contunue building the stadium whilst Archway have enough money to move..

With luck we'll get more updates on further progress in the next couple of months, but if not within say 3 months the court judgement on thius case should have been published. Could be interesting reading !

Might be wrong but i thought the level of compensation is not appealable. Only the fact of whether the cpo is in the publics interest.

ITK this, ITK that. When are we going to hear some real news for once?

As for that Billy White, say what it is or say nothing at all! "Oh oh oh oh I've this massive massive thing that I can't say anything about as it's an oh so nearly done thingy STAY TUNED!"

Absolutely. Fucking. Pointless.

As pointless as your post, leaking information is a complexed nuanced procedure.

Did you stop to consider that revealing any more could jeopardise the deal if it got out or that if White was a club employee could lose his job if discovered?

No, you just decided to make loud noises that add nothing to the discussion

Yes I did Bobby'McBobbingtons.

And that's one of the many reasons I feel he should've said NOTHING AT ALL.

On this ocassion I think you are sir !

I think there are 2 quite seperate appeals possible via different routes
a) Against the issue of the CPO by the lkocal authority (and that is the one that this thread has focussed on) and
b) Against the quantum of compensation - the principle 'market price determined by a willing buyer and seller' is enshrined in law). . As I understand it (but I'm not a lawyer) these appeals are held by the 'The Lands Tribunal http://www.justice.gov.uk/tribunals/lands which describes one of its purposes as ' The Lands Chamber has jurisdiction to determine disputes regarding entitlement to and the amount of compensation to be paid for land compulsorily purchased'

In this instance there are no criteria foran appeal against the cpo, it had to be issued as they wouldn't move voluntarily and the project fulfils all required criteria, my unddrstanding is that beyond that any appeal for compensation won't stop the legal process, they can be moved off without agreeing to accept what is offered, they can carry on with afterwards. If this was not the case they'd have an effective veto which they haven't.
Wasn't there word that ENIC were after buying an NFL franchise with the hope of bringing it to London? Has that been dismissed?

Unfortunately, i don't think it'll look anywhere near as cool as that.
Lets hope whatever the stadium looks like, the caterers can order enough buns so that they can sell the hotdogs. How hard can it be to order 40,000 sausages and the same number of rolls?

What an ignorant twit you are. If you're going to throw your toys out of the pram like a little child every time an ITK dashes your hopes then don't bother reading.

It was petulance like yours that drove the very same ITK away last season, when he was one of the most accurate out there, calling Bale, Soldado, shirt sponsorship, Fulham sale...

Drove them away? How about they stick to their guns for once instead of running away at first sight. I've never really taken note of ITKs (bar Edmonton) because of how unstable the football market is with deals being 'done' one minute and then off or 'gazumped' the next. Also it's all Chinese whispers.

This is what he said

Good things come to those who wait. Big, big things could be around the corner.
Levy is working to pull off something spectacular and it's really starting to look like it might happen. Stay tuned.

Wow, what a way to spill the beans. If he has info fine, great but if he can't say anything then just don't. I was an ITK just once on Glory-Glory after being told by a security guard at Crystal Palace that John Bostock was a done deal, my info was solid, ok apart from the fee of £5m. So I know what's it like and also if the deal fails then you're gonna look like a idiot but to try toe the line with 'OH HEY EVERYBODY! I've got something but I haven't got something. STAY TUNED!" Absolutely pointless, defeats the object.

Also, why is there a massive fear on this board that the 'ITKs' will jump ship? Funny how some on here feel others have a right to their opinion but when they have a go ITKs they get bashed and should shut up.

And another thing, if you like em that much THEN GET A ROOM WITH EM!

Funny how you say that you've never really taken notice of ITK before going onto systematically question the integrity and motives of someone passing on information in good faith. The site and this thread in particular are littered with examples of excellent information that isn't in the public domain but that has prompted debate and discussion which is why we are all here. It will rarely ever be 'water-tight' which is widely accepted by most posters here but you take it at face-value.

My understanding of the philosophy of Spurscommunity is that ITK-bashing is discouraged as it can make people less inclined to pass on information. If you don't agree with that then I'm sure there are plenty of other sites that would welcome you and your opinions with open arms.

I'm sorry, are you trying to compare your experience as a one-time perhaps maybe ITK whose info was passed on to you from a Crystal Palace groundsman about fecking John Bostock to knowing what it's like posting information on the world-record transfer of Gareth Bale, the future takeover of Fulham involving a billionaire, and potential information about a multi-million pound investment on our stadium? You do know that you passing that on risked absolutely nothing aside from, at a stretch, the transfer itself, whilst actual ITKs potentially risk their careers, business relationships and friendships (as well as others') doing what they do?

As for your point about being vague in their postings defeating the object of ITK I vehemently disagree. If someone like Billy White or the like posts something, ESPECIALLY when they indicate that nothing is concluded but that at that point in time would appear a certain way, then I'd believe that to be what is currently happening seeing as they have a proven track record (shirt sponsor, Fulham takeover, Bale transfer, Soldado transfer). What I would take away from their vagueness is that at present moment they, for whatever reason, do not feel comfortable sharing specifics, but want people to know that things are moving in a certain direction, in this case in a positive direction toward stadium investment. Which I welcome with open arms given the season we've had - I think we could all use an update on some good news when it's happening, even if eventually it turns out differently.

And there's a massive fear on this board that ITKs will be scared off because it's happened before and has been directly linked back to this board. ITKs, especially ones with very solid track records, are a complete privilege that many, many people not only on this board but on many others enjoy. It's entitled bellends like you that ruin it for the rest of us when you criticize someone putting things on the line to provide us information we would normally not be privy to about the club we follow with a passion.
