What should be remembered is that this new stadium will be our home for decades.

If it takes a little longer but is a stadium that is unique from others then I'm all for it.

Cost in the long run will be minimal.

We should try to show our class more, like having a marble entrance to the corporate side and having proper "weatherspoons" style bars inside the stands for the home fans with seats where you can go to get drinks & order proper food instead of pies.

We should put the effort into design that with did for the training ground as that wowed people and more people will identify our new stadium to the type of club we are.

I want other teams to be envious of our class leading new stadium, I don't want done soulless identikit stadium.

Will also mean that people stay longer in the stadium which will mean more money and ease transport.

err....I'm not sure the words "class" and "wetherspoons" can co-exist in same sentence.

Agree'd, although I get what the poster is trying to say. I'f you go down that route though how long before you end up with practically a Westfield shopping centre with a football stadium built in. And surely having pubs in the stadium controlled by the club will only make the problem of pubs closing locally even worse.

Haha, yes I was being facetious. Would be nice to see some of the local bars/pubs serving a nice selection of local craft ales though. My heart always sinks when I walk into a pub serving nothing but Carlsberg, Stella, Boddington's and Guinness.

This argument about asthetics is our club in microcosm. With our team we could build something new and very good, solid foundations that will serve us well for many many years. But we spend all our time arguing that the players aren't fancy enough, that the football should be beautiful first and effective second.

In around 5 years time we could be playing in an excellent, large, well thought out stadium which will serve us for a hundred years, but we are worrying about whether it will win design awards!

Just get the damn thing built:cautious:

I wasn't saying that a little earlier. It should do both - things go hand in hand. The more publicity and the more of a statement we make then the more it will be invested in, both emotionally and financially. Otherwise we might as well appoint the firm George & Graham Architects to design it.

Local craft ales? In Tottenham? The only micro brewery I know of is a flat on the Broadwater Farm Estate knocking out some sort of moonshine.

No leaks in the roof then too many bungs!!:)

Redemption's served at The Beehive at Bruce Grove.
Can't begin to remember how many hours I spent hanging around the stalls outside the Beehive waiting for me Dad to come out:)

One has to assume that because of the delays it will be quicker if we move out for a year.

There's absolutely no reason it should be, is there?

It would always be much quicker - and less expensive - to build the stadium in one hit, instead of building 3/4 of it, moving in and then demolishing the old WHL and building the last 1/4. The delays so far have no real effect on that, although they may have sharpened minds in the NDP team.

If you build in two phases, you have to get the excavators, the underground services, the electricians, the plumbers, the decorators - everyone - in twice. You can't plan trades to work through the building smoothly. The difference in cost is substantial.

I don't think it would take less time to build 3/4 of a stadium that it would take to build the whole thing in one go. It's the same sequence of building operations - you just put more operatives on site. So the entire second phase is extra time, as well as extra cost.

THFC and the design team will have been comparing the marginal cost of the two-phase building plan with the cost of moving out and the benefit of getting revenues from the larger stadium in one year earlier. Rumour would suggest that the moving-out option is looking more favourable.

Not sure what ITK you guys have heard but this is rock solid info.

During the stadium development we 100% CANNOT play at WHL due to healthy and safety reasons.

Will try to find out more on where we are likely to play, but we will have a temporary home for a couple of seasons thats for sure.

Edit: Rightly pointed out its not a rebuild so corrected to stadium development

Rebuild? Don't you mean build? Rebuild makes it sound like we're building on the current site.

Is it a case of ENIC being late to the party yet again?

1, Reports coming out that Arsenal and other clubs actual attendances being lower than reported with up to 25,000 difference in some.

Is this a trend of genuine apathy spreading through the true football supporters?

2, The march today for lower ticket prices.

I don't think these 2 observations are in any way positive towards a club building a new stadium.

Arsenal have always reported tickets sold rather than attendance...

Ticket prices isn't really the be all and end all... Increasing the fan-base is more important as it is all the 'incidentals' where the money really adds up...

For example program/food/drink/shop sales and more importantly increased pressure for games to be shown on tv and consequent tv-rights split...
