I know it's black and white but it's not ghe watson eubank fight is it?

Not sure if you're kidding or not but that fight was in 1991. The East Stand in the form it was in that pic was a sad memory by then.

Here's the fight if you're bored ;)

Was only 12 at the time. Plenty of drink and drugs have fazed my memory of back then.

Edmonton Green and Silver Street have been rebranded as Overground stations. Rolling stock is still old, though.

@TimNiceButDim I just knew you would press disagree, and was going to take a picture of the platform to prove it, but had to rush to get my train!

It certainly looks like the shelf side that I used to stand on in the 80s (minus the TV gantry above the shelf), although the crowd does look a bit '1950s'.

Hey, thanks for that.
I was 10 back then so never saw that fight. I thought footage of it would have been long gone (y)

Thought something had happened with the new stadium then but I seem to have tuned in to box nation c1980?

Interestingly that picture that I posted was of us using the stadium for multiple purposes

Lille have built a great multipurpose stadium and we could use a system similar to them for the nfl, at the moment they use it for tennis and basketball

Here is the pitch moving

For some reason, that Lille stadium reminded me of this ridiculous plan a few years back to turn the dilapidated Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit into 3 stadiums in one. Here is a cross section of the stadium plan

pontiac-silverdome-renovationsjpg-e6d9727aad92ebc3.jpg

The top level was to be an open air football pitch. Underneath was to be split between a hockey/basketball arena and a u shaped multipurpose event/concert arena,

Easily one of the most ridiculous ideas I've ever seen.

So, what's your gut feeling on the final capacity ? Do you think it will be 56,000 or higher? I think the club may stick with 56k initially but the design will allow for some expansion.

Some one recently posted that during the tour guide of WHL the guide informed everyone that the club is doing everything it can make the new Stadium's capacity 61,000 in memory of the 1961 side.

With the club looking back at its history a lot recently (this seasons kit with the embroided writing, the clock in lilywhite house, and Bill Nic's gates), the 61,000 capacity would fit in perfectly with all this.

Plus trumping the bellends down the road with a bigger stadium, and Levys ambition to make it "the best stadium in Europe", I can't see it being any less, IMO.

The S73 is to provide a new basement level beneath the approved stadium in order accommodate some of the already consented car parking spaces proposed at ground floor level, as well as plant and storage areas, and amendments to the consented ground floor layout to allow for extended player changing facilities, enhanced media facilities and other associated stadium uses. No changes are proposed to the external appearance or the height, scale and mass of the consented stadium.

To be reported to committee on 22 June with a positive recommendation. No additional impacts over current approval.

So looks like the Basement planning approval will happen officially on 22 June

Can anyone who's been near WHL in the past few days tell me what they're building in a open space on the high road in front of the stadium?
